Kristen Douta and Luke Broderick’s romance continues Valleyincluding their engagement in September 2024.

To announce the news, the couple posted photos of the romantic moment on Instagram and wrote: “I wrap myself around your finger like this ring I’m wearing 💍 🤟🏽 of all the fish in the sea you chose me 🥹 .”

The reality TV star first met Broderick when they attended the same wedding party in June 2022. They kept their romance under wraps for several months and started a podcast together in November 2022. The following month, Doute went public with their relationship on an episode of the audio show series.

Since then, the couple’s relationship has been featured on their podcast, as well as in the first season of the show Vanderpump Rules spinoff. Doute also opened up about her relationship with Broderick during a March 2024 interview with Sr Party tonighttelling the newspaper, “I trust our relationship and how much we’ve worked on communication and therapy.”

She added, “He’s so communicative, so emotionally intelligent, that I knew he wouldn’t have said yes if he wasn’t able and willing to try to deal with it.”

The couple first met in June 2022 at the wedding of Rachael O’Brien and Greg Hunter, where Doute was the maid of honor and Broderick was the best man.

In the first episode valley, Doute shared how they met two weeks after her split from ex Alex Menache. She explained: “I thought, ‘He’s cute, he’s kind, he’s funny’. Then we had sex behind the tent, and the rest is history.”

In January 2023, Broderick shared a sentimental post about his relationship with Doute, writing in part, “A lot changed for me in 2022. The best part was having @kristendoute come into my life.”

“We’ve already had a lot of adventures and fun and I can’t wait for what’s next!” he added. “I love you baby.”

He loves the outdoors

Broderick is a nature lover, according to his Bravo bio. In addition to being an avid hunter and fisherman, Broderick enjoys other outdoor activities, including chopping wood and playing golf.

Doute and Broderick discussed their differing opinions on hunting and fishing on a December 2022 episode of their podcast. She expressed her initial reactions when she first saw her now-fiancé’s personal Instagram account, noting that it contained “a lot of hunting stuff.”

“It’s hard, I won’t lie. However, I know that how you go about it is something that is very important to you,” Doute said.

Broderick added, “I’m more of a security guard than a hunter.”

Doute and Broderick began hosting a podcast together in November 2022 before their relationship was made public. The podcast was originally called Sex, love and what else matters with Kristen before the recent rebrand.

In April 2024, the podcast was changed to Balancing Act with Kristen Doute and Luke Broderick, with Ariana Madix as the first guest under the new name.

According to the podcast’s description, Doute and Broderick “get real from both female and male perspectives” about “growing up,” including balancing “life, love, work, play, family, friends, downs and dreams.”

He and Doute got engaged in September 2024

Doute and Broderick became engaged on September 4, 2024, while filming for Valley. A romantic moment happened on a boat in Hawaii.

He is not a fan of the spotlight

Broderick may be dating a reality TV star, but he personally isn’t a fan of being the center of attention.

In a December 2022 episode of their podcast, Doute revealed that she suggested he open a second Instagram account because she didn’t want him to have to “subscribe to the scrutiny” she experienced after acting on the small screen.

“He’s such a sweet, loving, good-hearted person who knows nothing about this world in Los Angeles — the world of podcasts, the world of reality TV, the world of Instagram that I’ve chosen to live in,” she explained. “We all know that. I chose it. He didn’t deserve it.”

In an interview with March 2024 Party tonightBroderick discussed the decision he made with Doute to appear on TV for the greater good of their relationship and future together.

“This is the deal – we talked about it before we went out, which became official, that if it becomes a thing, I have to agree to be on camera,” he told the news outlet. “So I’m following my side of the deal.”

Doute added: “My side of the deal is that when we become parents, when a baby or a child comes to school, we don’t live in real LA anymore.”

Although he is not a big fan of the spotlight, Broderick is one of the main actors in Bravo valley, what features Vanderpump Rules students Doute, Jax Taylor and Brittany Cartwright.

Doute said Party tonight in March 2024 that it was “nervous” to be on TV again, but in the end she knew it was an “exciting” opportunity, especially for her relationship with Broderick.

“I think I’ve just progressed so much,” she explained. “We have our podcast, but I really wanted to show our life and our desire to be married, eventually married, our desire to be parents.”

He moved to California for Doute

In March 2024, Doute and Broderick moved into an apartment in Valley Village, California. They gave Bravo Daily dish a tour of the apartment where they live with their three dogs and one gecko.

It was a major turning point for the couple: for the first two years of their relationship, Broderick split his time between Los Angeles and his home in Colorado. The move comes after they opened up about why they decided not to live together full-time.

In the confessional during the fourth episode valley, Broderick talked about his life in Colorado, explaining, “Everything I’ve built in my life, everything I’ve worked for has accumulated in Colorado. We also have a better circle, I mean people — real, down-to-earth, good people.”

In another scene, Doute emphasized that California is “important” to her. She shared, “I can’t leave California tomorrow or next year or the year after, but I think I’ll give it a few years. I moved three times in a year and a half. I can’t do it again.”

Now it seems the couple have come to a compromise and are excited for the next chapter.

He is a family man

While Broderick has shared snippets of his romance with Doute on social media, he has also shown his love and appreciation for his family online.

In addition to calling his brother Ethan his best friend, he posted a touching message about his family in March 2023 to mark International Women’s Day with a series of photos showing his female families.

“I love my family very much. Being in California and 2,000+ miles away from my amazing sisters, mother, grandmother, and niece makes me sick,” he wrote. Happy #InternationalWomensDay! You are all so special and amazing to me in your own way.”

In May 2023, he shared a photo of himself posing with his niece in a belated Easter post. In the caption, he wrote: “I was lucky to spend it with my family.” I only have one picture, but it’s a good one. I love my niece and nephew!”

They want to start a family

Doute and Broderick have been open about their desire to start a family together.

During the season premiere valley, Doute was candid in the confessional about motherhood, explaining, “Watching all my friends over the past few years get married, have kids, grow their families. I am the oldest girl in this group. When is my time?”

In November 2023, the couple revealed on their podcast that they had suffered a miscarriage at six weeks. During the episode, Broderick said the couple had a “hard time” after losing their pregnancy. He also expressed his continued support for Douta, telling her, “I just know that I have to be your rock here, and I want that.”

Doute told PEOPLE in May 2024 that she and Broderick are still very “hopeful” that a child is in their future. “We’re back on the train trying to … keep our fingers crossed,” she said.
