Miami Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel and his wife Katie Hemstalk married in 2014 and share one daughter
Mike McDaniel and Katie Hemstalk met in a nightclub in 2010 — and it almost cost the football coach his player.
“One of the running backs who [McDaniel] the coach dances with the girl and Mike says, ‘Listen, you’re not dancing with her or playing with this team next year.’ Then McDaniel starts dancing with her,” sports commentator Al Michaels said while recounting the couple’s cute story on national television in November 2023. “Four years later, they were married. Hemstalk and McDaniel married in 2014 and welcomed their daughter Alya in June 2020. The family of three currently resides in Miami, where McDaniel was named head coach of the Miami Dolphins in 2022.
“People can’t do anything by themselves. Anything. I wouldn’t have a chance without my wife,” the NFL coach said during a press conference in November 2022 when asked who he was most grateful for.

He is a licensed esthetician
Hemstalk is a professional esthetician and cosmetologist. According to California Department of Consumer Protection public records, Hemstalk has been a licensed esthetician since 2005. She also previously worked as a licensed cosmetologist from 2011 to 2023.
She and McDaniel married in 2014

After dating for five years, the couple tied the knot in a beautiful outdoor ceremony on June 21, 2014. The wedding was held in Ashburn, Virginia, located about an hour outside of Washington DC, where McDaniel worked as a catching coach. commanders from Washington at the time.

During McDaniel’s nearly 20-year NFL career, the couple lived in seven different cities before finally moving to Miami. According to McDaniel’s Miami Dolphins bio, he started out with the Denver Broncos, followed by stints with the Houston Texans and Sacramento Mountain Lions, before settling in Washington for three seasons.
After landing his first official NFL coaching job with the Washington Commanders, McDaniel left to serve as the wide receivers coach for the Cleveland Browns in 2014. However, he was with them for only one year and left for the Atlanta Falcons. He and Hemstalk lived there for two years, but eventually ended up in San Francisco.
McDaniel enjoyed great success with the San Francisco 49ers. In 2017, he joined the staff as the team’s running back specialist and was promoted to coordinator in 2018. He was promoted once again to offensive coordinator in 2021.
The Miami Dolphins stepped in and took him on as head coach for the 2022 season.
They share a daughter

In 2020, Hemstalk and McDaniel became a trio with the birth of their adorable daughter, Alya June. The mother-daughter duo made several media appearances in support of McDaniel, including at his introductory news conference as the head coach of the Miami Dolphins in 2022. Rest and quality time with his family is of utmost importance to McDaniel, which is why he instructed his team to take six consecutive days off during the bye week of the 2022 season. Teams are mandated to give players four consecutive days off, but McDaniel made sure he and the team approaches the second part of the season with a clear, rested mindset. For McDaniel, that meant time alone with his wife and daughter.
“So I’m a leader by example. I’m going to show these guys how to rest my ass, and then when I’m not sleeping, I’m going to be a dad and a husband,” McDaniel said Sports IllustratedA nation of fans. “I’ll have some honey. I’ll do my chores, because I won’t want to be in the doghouse.”
McDaniel said that when he’s a “daddy,” he’ll probably wear a very special pair of his shoes with pictures of him and Alya’s heads painted on them. “I’ll probably wear them doing father duty all week while taking out the trash,” he laughed.
