Oscar Piastri and his girlfriend Lily Zneimer have been dating since high school.

The Australian-born McLaren Formula 1 driver who made history in his rookie year – and will continue to race with the team until 2026, according to ESPN – met Zneimer while at boarding school in England, where he had moved to pursue racing during his early teenage years.

Piastri and Zneimer attended high school—the British version of high school—in Haileybury, Hertford, England, north of London. The two started dating the year before last, Piastri told host Dax Shepard Eff won with DRS podcast in 2023, before graduating in 2019.

Piastri left his hometown of Melbourne, Australia at the age of 14 to pursue racing in the United Kingdom. He attended boarding school at Haileybury College, a co-educational school in Hertford, England — and the sister school he studied at in Melbourne — while racing in Formula 4, Formula 3 and Formula Renault.

At Haileybury, he met Zneimer and the two began dating during their sophomore to senior year of school. “We’ve been together ever since,” Piastri said on Eff Won podcast in 2023, adding that they had been dating for more than four years at that point. “So it was nice to have someone from the beginning who is still with me.”

While Piastri earned a 35 percent attendance rate his senior year due to his track training, according to The Athletic, Zneimer achieved perfect grades. In 2018, she was one of a handful of Haileybury students to achieve the best GCSE exam results in the school’s history, according to the school’s website and Hertfordshire Mercury.

The two haven’t gone far from their boarding school roots, as Piastri still lives near London, and the pair attended Wimbledon together in the summer of 2023. Although Piastri spends the year traveling the world, Zneimer often attends his races and awards ceremonies.

On Eff Won podcast, Piastri talked about his friends and family supporting his career and mentioned Zneimer. “She came to a lot of races this year, which was nice,” he said.

In Piastri’s debut Formula 1 season in 2023, Zneimer attended several races in different countries, including the Italian Grand Prix, the Singapore Grand Prix and the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, often seen entering the paddock with her boyfriend.

Zneimer was also Piasti’s companion at the Autosport Awards in London the previous year. He posted a photo on Instagram of him and Zneimer on the red carpet — he in a tuxedo and she in a midnight blue dress — announcing his Rookie of the Year win.

In the middle of the 2023 season, Piastri and his girlfriend took a break from the track and visited the Algarve in Portugal. He posted a slideshow of photos on Instagram, including a mirror selfie with Zneimer and some scenic shots of the area with the caption, “A little mid-season update 🇵🇹.”

When he visited Piastri’s hometown of Melbourne for the Australian Grand Prix, he took Zneimer around, as seen in promotional video for the race, in which they rode a helicopter and visited an animal sanctuary.

Piastri credits Zneimer with encouraging him to stay grounded amid his newfound fame in Formula 1, according to a 2023 interview with 9 New Melbourne.

That grounding includes doing “normal things” when not racing, Piastri said The Athletic 2023, including playing video games, hanging out with my girlfriend, and cooking at home. On Pit Stop Podcast In 2022, Piasri told the hosts that Zneimer helps a lot with his newer cooking hobby.
