Who Is Peso Pluma’s Girlfriend? All About Nicki Nicole

Peso Pluma and his girlfriend, Nicki Nicole (born Nicole Denise Cucco), have a special bond on and off stage – but it seems they’ve hit a rough patch.

In February 2024, Nicki Nicole sparked breakup rumors when she unfollowed Peso Plum and deleted all evidence of their relationship on Instagram. She also published a statement on her Instagram Story that reads: “Respect is a necessary part of love.” What you love, you respect. What you respect, you care about. When you are not cared for and respected, I will not stay. I’ll go from there.”

This happened after Peso Pluma (born Hassan Emilio Kabande Laija) was seen in Las Vegas with another woman.

Nicki Nicole and the Mexican singer first met when they collaborated on a remix of Pesa Plume’s “Por Las Noches” in February 2023. Although they initially remained tight-lipped about their relationship, the duo confirmed their romance when they kissed at one of of the Nicki Nicole concerts in November of the same year.

She grew up in Argentina

Nicki Nicole was born on August 25, 2000 in Rosario, Argentina. She is the youngest of four children, including two brothers and a sister.

During the interview with Board in September 2022, the singer spoke about what it was like to grow up in Argentina.

“I believe that Rosario is something like home, which is hard for me to find anywhere else, because it is where I grew up, where I am from,” she said in Spanish. “I grew up in a generation that still went outside to play. … I would go back to a house covered with earth.”

Nicki Nicole also shared that all of her siblings come from different generations, which has kept “every genre you can imagine” playing in her house. So she was attracted to music from an early age.

“Since I was little, I sang at home with my family, in the kitchen or anywhere I could,” she said Wonderland magazine in July 2023. “I had a broom that I would use as a microphone to perform in front of people.”

During the interview with Nicki Nicole s Board in September 2022, she also shared that her mom was adamant that she and her siblings “finish school and get a degree.” In response, the aspiring artist opened up about her dream of performing, and her mother immediately supported her.

Nicki Nicole enrolled in night school and balanced her education while working on music during the day. She released her debut single “Wapo Trakatero” in 2019 and has since performed the song on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. She also had a viral collaboration with Argentinian producer and DJ Bizarrap, titled “BZRP Music Sessions #13.”

Talking to Hype magazine in July 2023, Nicki Nicole stated that she freestyles her songs about personal moments.

“The truth is that almost all the songs I compose are freestyle. When the song is recorded, only then do I start writing some lyrics,” she explained. “My inspiration comes from lived experiences, things I’ve been through and what I freely style in the studio usually carries an intention.”

In 2020, Nicki Nicole was nominated for her first Latin Grammy for Best New Artist. Although she didn’t take home the award, the rapper told Mitú in April 2021 that the nomination still had a big impact on her career.

“It was something I never expected in my life,” she said. “I knew it would happen one day, but not so soon. The Latin Grammys changed me. They changed the entire course of my career. Even though I didn’t win, that [nomination] put me in a place I never dreamed of.”

The duo first met when they collaborated on a remix of Pesa Plume’s “Por Las Noches” in February 2023. Four months later, Nicki Nicole opened up Latin magazine about working with a rising Mexican regional artist.

“I love it [Peso Pluma’s] music,” she said. “When he invited me to do a remix of that song, it was really crazy because it was one of his songs that I listened to the most. I jumped into the song with absolute pleasure.”

Nicki Nicole also touched on what it was like to explore a different genre. “It was a little difficult for me to get into the song with that style, but he helped me there. He motivated me to jump on the track,” she added.

She and Peso Pluma performed at 2023 Board Latin Music Awards

Peso Pluma and Nicki Nicole first sparked romance rumors when they were spotted together at Disneyland in July 2023 and later at a football game in September of the same year. Next month their performance at Board The Latin Music Awards further fueled the relationship speculation.

They went on stage in the same white outfits, and Peso Pluma kissed Nicki Nicole on the forehead at the end of the performance. A video of the pair walking backstage holding hands was also released BoardInstagram.

Despite their subtle PDA, a few days after the awards, Nicki Nicole told Molusco TV, per Marca, that the two are “friends” and that she “doesn’t mind” the media attention on their relationship.

Peso Pluma and Nicki Nicole confirmed their relationship a month later during the Argentine singer’s performance at the Pepsi Center in Mexico City. She brought Pesa Pluma on stage to perform their collaboration “Por Las Noches — Remix,” where the duo held hands during the performance.

After fans clamored for a kiss, Peso Pluma thanked Nicki Nicole for inviting him on the show before taking a bow. After that, the singer told him: “Thank you for coming, love!” The “Tuluma” singer replied: “I love you, my love!” before kissing Nicole again and running off the stage.

Nicki Nicole later shared a carousel of photos from the concert on Instagram, including a photo of them hugging. She also posted a short clip on her Instagram Stories and wrote: “Thank you [Peso Pluma] for the arrival of bb.”

She and Peso Pluma made their red carpet debut at the 2023 Latin Grammys

Two weeks after their duet in Mexico City, the pair made their first red carpet appearance together at the Latin Grammy Awards in Seville, Spain. Peso Pluma was nominated for Best Regional Mexican Song and Song of the Year, while Nicki Nicole was nominated for Best Urban Music Album and Best Rap/Hip-Hop Song.

Nicki Nicole wore a red latex bodice dress, accessorized with a silver chain and black platform heels. Peso Pluma opted for an all-black look consisting of a blazer, trousers, turtleneck shirt, gloves and formal shoes.

The duo spoke with Rolling stone on the red carpet, with Nicki Nicole telling the magazine that she’s “so happy to be in company tonight,” while Peso Pluma added that he’s “supporting the queen.”

During the award ceremony, Peso Pluma was scheduled to perform his song “Ella Baila Sola” with Eslabon Armada. “I will [be] screaming the song. I didn’t bring a poster that says ‘Peso’ because the Grammys wouldn’t let me, but if I hadn’t I would have brought a poster and a tissue,” Nicki Nicole joked to the outlet.

She previously dated Argentine rapper Truen

Nicki Nicole was in a relationship with fellow Argentinian rapper Trueno from 2020 to 2022. According to a joint interview with Rolling stone in October 2022, they met when they collaborated on Truen’s song “Mamichula” for his 2020 album. Atrevido.

“It was the best way for us to bond because we could express everything we wanted to say to each other personally through a song,” Nicki Nicole told the news outlet. “We went out on a date a few weeks later, fell in love and started making tons of music together.”

The Argentine rappers have collaborated on several other songs together, including “Dangerous”, “Vuelvo hacia ti” and “Vente Conmigo”.

Nicki Nicole’s 2023 album Alma was largely inspired by her breakup with Truena. She said Latina magazine in June 2023 that allowing herself to be vulnerable while making the album was “healing” for her.

“Making it and publishing it, it’s a very good feeling,” she said. “Before I made it, I was very disconnected due to a musical mental block. It healed me to make this album and give it to people.”

Nicki Nicole added: “Sharing my life with my fans gives me an incredible sense of peace. There are people out there with a lot of things that can be healed. It’s a pleasure to have my music speak to people and be a source of healing.”

She performed at Coachella 2022

In April 2022, Nicki Nicole made her US debut as a performer at Coachella on the Sonora Stage. The singer’s set included several of her hits such as “Wapo Traketero”, “Coocao” and “Baby”.

During the interview with Board after performing on the first weekend, Nicki Nicole said she was “really nervous” about performing. She talked about not being a well-known artist in the US and the possibility of being forgotten at the big event, but when the “huge crowd” showed up, she was overcome with emotion.

“I’ve always dreamed of performing at Coachella, but I never thought it would happen this early in my career. I’ve only been active for three years,” said Nicki Nicole. “I used to watch my idols perform at Coachella… I’m not performing on the main stage, but I’m motivated and I know I’ll get there.”
