Who Is Randall Park’s Wife? All About Actress Jae Suh Park

Randall Park has his wife Jae Suh Park as his on-screen and off-screen partner.

The Fresh off the boat star met the actress in 2007, and the couple married in 2009. Together, they had a daughter, Ruby, who arrived in May 2012.

“Since we had our daughter, we don’t really talk about work,” he said College friends The alum opened up to Emmys.com about their marriage.

“I feel that it is healthiest to have a marriage and a home separate from professional life. We love being with each other. Business goes up and down. If you’re looking for validation in this business, you’re going to be disappointed,” she explained.

Despite keeping their home and professional lives separate, the pair have occasionally worked together on screen, appearing in Randall’s comedy web series Child mentalist and in episodes The Mindy Project together.

She was born in South Korea

Jae was born on April 5, 1984 in South Korea. At the age of 6, she immigrated to Lodi, California with her family, where they were sponsored by an uncle who lived there.

“We were the first Asian family in the neighborhood and we didn’t speak [English] Language. I didn’t go until college,” she told Emmys.com.

She had dreamed of becoming an actress since she was 8 years old and took acting classes while attending UC Davis, but didn’t tell her family it was a career she wanted to pursue until after she graduated.

“After graduation, it became my pastime: I told them I wanted to be an actress, but it didn’t go well,” she explained. “It led to arguments, and I was told that I was crazy, that it was a weird pipe dream and that I would never make it come true. In Korea, acting was not a respected profession.”

Randall and Jae met at a charity event

Before they even met, the couple-to-be knew each other through the Asian-American acting community in Los Angeles. In 2007, they met for the first time at a charity event of a non-profit theater. Randall, who contributed to the armless squirrel cartoon, noticed Jae but didn’t introduce himself.

A few days later they met again at an audition: “My opening line was, ‘How much did you get for that picture?’ ” Jae recalled LA Weekly.

They made arrangements in the waiting room for about an hour, but Jae was called to audition before Randall could ask for her number. Not long after that, they met again at another audition, where they appeared for the same role in a commercial.

Randall got her number and invited her to his upcoming birthday party, but when Jae arrived, it was just Randall and two of his friends playing a video game.

“I thought he was going to leave,” Office the actor shared. “And here I was thinking, ‘I’m alone, I’m a year older and I need to be more proactive in my personal life.’ But it was awkward because all my friends were there.”

Luckily, Jae thought the same. However, more friends came and they couldn’t stay alone. Randall asked Jae to call her when she got home from the party, and when she did, he asked her out. Only after two weeks of dating did they tell each other that they were in love.

She is an actress

Jae got her first acting role in 2004 when she was in an episode of the series Emergency. She also had roles in individual episodes How I Met Your Mother and League before appearing in The Mindy Project as Randall’s on-screen wife in two episodes.

“I want projects to be brought to me and to make a decision – to have a choice of what to do,” she told CVLUX magazine about her career aspirations. “I’m grateful for everything that happens to me and obviously I feel like we’re both in a position that a lot of people aren’t in, but if only I had more choices in what to do and what not to do. Doing quality things that I’m proud of. And work with wonderful people.”

She is best known for her role in the Netflix original series College friendswhich ran for two seasons from 2017 to 2019. Jae also had a recurring role on I never didplus roles in Doogie Kamealoha, MD, Big short (2015), Paper tigers (2020) and more.

After only a year of dating, Randall popped the question at the now-closed Billingsley’s Steakhouse in LA Five months later, the couple said “I do” on August 29, 2009.

Although they haven’t shared much about their nuptials, Jae usually celebrates their anniversary with a sweet social media post every year.

“He still knocks me off my feet, steps on my toes, invades my space and holds me tight,” she wrote on Instagram in 2021 alongside a photo from their wedding day. “The best dance partner ever. Happy anniversary my love 💗.”

She and Randall have a daughter

Randall and Jae became parents to daughter Ruby Louise in May 2012.

When Ruby was only a few months old, she appeared with her parents Child mentalist, her father’s comedy web series, as a crime-fighting baby superhero. For Ruby, “she doesn’t know anything else” other than having two busy actors for parents.

“That’s all he’s known all his life. She’s been watching us on TV since she was a baby, she’s come and visited us on set… I think she probably just thinks everyone’s parents are on TV,” Jae said. CVLUX magazine. “She honestly doesn’t think she’s anything special and I don’t think she cares what we do. That’s normal for her.”

In 2022, Jae opened up about some of Ruby’s interests which include swings, trampolines, going to Disneyland, playgrounds, crafts, cooking, baking, art, swimming and watching YouTube.

“In a sense, she loves everything that all the other typical kids do, just in a different way,” the mom shared with PEOPLE.

He is engaged in charity work

Besides being a mother and actress, Jae is also on the board of KultureCity along with Randall, and other celebrities like Ken Jeong and Jenni “JWoww” Farley. The non-profit organization works to build sensory inclusive locations that are accessible and acceptable to people with invisible disabilities.

Three of the many sensory rooms developed by KultureCity are located in Hollywood Park in Inglewood, California, home to SoFi Stadium and the accompanying YouTube Cinema.

“It was more about making the world around you supportive of your sensory needs, providing things like headphones or fidget toys, things that will just make your experience more ‘normal’ or more fun,” she told PEOPLE. “You can enjoy music shows, or go to a game, or go to the bathroom.”

The rooms are regularly cleaned by trained attendants and equipped with toys, seats and other activities to soothe the senses.

“That was a big deal for my daughter, she’s on the spectrum and has a lot of sensory needs. She couldn’t go to a public bathroom for a really long time because of the echoes and dryers,” Jae said.

He likes working in the same industry as Randall

For some actors, they prefer to marry outside of the industry, but for Randall and Jae, it was a positive aspect of their marriage.

“A lot of actors don’t want to date non-actors because you don’t have to explain how crazy it is. It’s hard for people outside the business to understand and support that,” Jae told Emmys.com.

Randall feels the same way, he explained LA Weekly: “You always hear, ‘Actors should never date actors,’ but for me it was just a blessing. It’s hard work and it helps to have someone’s shoulder to lean on, especially if they understand what you’re going through.”
