Rick Owens, also known as Richard Saturnino Owens, was born on November 18, 1961 in Porterville, California to parents John (died 2015) and Concepción Owens. He grew up in a traditional Catholic family. He studied painting at the Otis College of Art and Design in Los Angeles for several years before enrolling in prototyping and draping classes at the Los Angeles College of Commerce-Technology.
