Sam Champion, an Emmy and Peabody Award-winning journalist, is set to compete on DWTS alongside dance expert Cheryl Burke. Before participating in the reality dance competition, the two have been friends for “nearly ten years”. The series, which stars Vinny Guadagnino, Charli D’Amelio, and Teresa Giudice, will premiere on Disney+ on Monday, September 19 at 8:00 p.m. ET/5:00 p.m. PT.

Samuel James Champion, sometimes called Sam Champion, was born in 1961 in Kentucky. According to Celebrity Net Worth, the American weatherman has a net worth of $10 million. He earned a bachelor’s degree in television journalism from Eastern Kentucky University and began his career as an intern at WCYT-TV in Lexington, KY before joining Eyewitness News in 1988. She is a weekend host and reporter at WPSD-TV in Paducah, KY who previously participated in WABC-TV.

Sam has enjoyed a 25-year career on ABC’s top shows WABC-TV and Good Morning America. On The Weather Channel, he previously co-hosted AMHQ: America’s Morning Headquarters and 23.5 Degrees with Sam Champion. In 2006, he worked as a weather forecaster for Good Morning America. What should viewers expect from Sam Champion on DWTS?

The meteorologist is currently preparing to show off her deadly talent on DWTS with her friend and professional dancer Cheryl Burke. Despite the fact that he has never danced before, he is sure that he will dazzle the judges and audience with his dance moves. Speaking on Good Morning America about being a DWTS contestant, Sam said:

“I’ve never danced in my life, and this is a competition, so I can’t share all the secrets of the dance moves I’ll bring because I don’t know them.”

Sam is one of 16 DWTS contestants competing for Mirrorball this season, along with Selma Blair, Jason Lewis, Shangela, Jordin Sparks, Charla D’Amelio, Cheryl Ladd and Wayne Brady. Sam previously felt “uncomfortable” talking about himself and his gender, but now he’s happy to be on the show and “adapt” to his true identity.

When asked if he discussed his gender on DWTS, he told Us Weekly:

“So that’s a little story about me as a gay kid at a very different time in America and around the world, when it was embarrassing, and I’ve been through a lot. which I have always felt like myself. I love dancing, but I’ve always dreaded that conversation.”
