Who Is Ubah Hassan's Boyfriend? All About Oliver Dachsel

Ubah Hassan may be ready to take her life public, but she is notoriously private when it comes to her love life.

The The Real Housewives of New York star first mentioned her boyfriend, Oliver Dachsel, in later episodes of season 14, simply calling him “Mr. Connecticut.” From there, drama ensued as some of her colleagues spread the word about her private romance and told the cameras that he was from the state.

“He’s very closed off because of his job,” Hassan explained in the first episode RHONY season 14 reunion, which aired on October 22, 2023, about why she was so secretive about Dachsel.

She confirmed that the two are still dating, and a few days after the episode aired, Hassan made his first public appearance with Dachsel at the American Ballet Theater’s 2023 fall gala at Lincoln Center in New York.

So who is Ubah Hassan’s boyfriend? Here’s everything you need to know about Oliver Dachsel and his relationship with the reality star.

He is from Germany

Dachsel may now be living in Connecticut, as Hassan discovered RHONYbut is originally from Germany. According to his LinkedIn, the businessman attended the WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management in Germany, where he graduated in 2006.

He also served in the German army in 2001.

He is an investment banker

Dachsel started in the banking industry with Deutsche Bank in their Frankfurt office, moving to London after two years and finally to NYC in July 2011, according to his LinkedIn.

He moved to Jefferies in August 2016 and has been with the company ever since, currently serving as their Managing Director.

They met through mutual friends

After going public with her relationship, Hassan shared more about how the two met with PEOPLE at the American Ballet Theater’s fall gala in October 2023.

Hassan mentioned that they had been dating for “over a year” after meeting “through friends”.

“I want to say things like ‘We met on Tinder or Bumble,’ but not really,” she joked.

Hassan wanted to keep their relationship private

Hassan first mentioned Dachsel in episode 13 RHONY after her Sai De Silva co-star David Craig questioned why Hassan was single.

“I’m fine,” Hassan whispered to De Silva, showing her pictures of her then new man.

“Since David is so curious, I’m going to show his wife what’s going on in my iPhone,” Hassan said in the confessional. “It’s very tasty.”

She explained that she kept her relationship a secret from other women because she was “very new” and didn’t “want other people’s energy.” Hassan said, “I just want to make decisions for myself, and Sai can keep the secret.”

De Silva didn’t keep it a secret, however, and soon told co-stars Erin Lichy and Brynn Whitfield about Hassan’s new man, sharing during an off-camera “circle of trust” moment at the dinner that he was from Connecticut.

At Whitfield’s birthday party in the next episode, chaos ensues when Hassan receives a call from her boyfriend, and Whitfield yells from across the room, “Hey, Ubah, I heard you got a man in Connecticut.”

Hassan was furious and whispered to her, “If you mention Connecticut, I will circumcise you.”

“The whole thing was confidential so she must have heard from Sai,” Hassan said in the confessional. “But for Brynn to mention part of it, I’m like f—- you don’t deserve a birthday, we should take you to a McDonald’s drive-thru, and no fries for you.”

During the reunion, Hassan clarified that it was Dachsel who wanted to keep their relationship private because of her work and that she wanted to respect his wishes.

While Dachsel’s introduction to the group may have been full of drama, Hassan’s co-stars had nothing but kind words to share about him at the reunion where Hassan confirmed they were “still going strong.”

Andy Cohen, who hosted the reunion, said he met Dachsel and was impressed by how “tall and handsome” he was.

“He’s the loveliest man, really, and very handsome,” Lichy then added, while De Silva said, “He’s so in love with her. He has a twinkle in his eye.”

“He is the perfect counterpart to Ubah,” added colleague Jessel Tank. “He’s patient, he’s loving. He looks at her like she’s a piece of art in a museum.”

They made their debut on the red carpet in October 2023

Just days after the reunion episode aired, Hassan and Dachsel stepped out together for the first time at the American Ballet Theatre’s 2023 Fall Gala.

“This is our first time together on the carpet,” Hassan told PEOPLE at the event, where she called Dachsel “my boyfriend” and shared more about their shared appreciation of ballet. “We like it, it’s very nice. We just saw [George Balanchine’s] Gems last month, it was my birthday present.”

The couple held hands while on the carpet and posed for photos, with photographers even snapping a few shots of them looking romantically into each other’s eyes and laughing together.

The next day they went out again, this time for the Alzheimer’s Association Imagine Benefit at Jazz, also at Lincoln Center.

They plan to have a baby together

Hassan opened up about her hopes for a future with Daschel during the season 15 premiere The Real Housewives of New York, which was broadcast in early October 2024. While at lunch, she told co-stars Lichy and Rebecca Minkoff that she wanted to “start trying” to get pregnant by the end of the year.

“I never thought I wanted to have a child,” Hassan said in the confessional. “I’m a little spoiled when it comes to my dream, when it comes to what I want to do, to travel to Paris just for dessert. But when I’m talking to Oliver at dinnertime by a little candlelight, I say, ‘Yeah, let’s do it.’ ”
