On November 12, 2003, Faber made his professional MMA debut as part of the Gladiator Challenge promotion, defeating his opponent. When he moved to KOTC, he defeated Rami Boukai. In 2005, he successfully defended his KOTC title against Shawn Bias. Faber first competed in the World Extreme Cagefighting promotion on March 17, 2006. After losing to José Aldo at featherweight, Faber dropped down to bantamweight.
On August 18, 2010, at WEC 50, Faber was scheduled to face Japanese striker Takeya Mizugaki. On the other hand, Faber was forced to withdraw due to injury. As a result, Mizugaki was also removed from the competition. On December 6, 2014, at UFC181, Faber faced Francisco Rivera. Faber won the fight by submission in the second round.
