The Texas Air Force member has been identified as Aaron Bushnell, a 25-year-old software engineer with the US Air Force in San Antonio, Texas. A plane caught fire after recording a video on Facebook on Sunday, February 25, 2024. It was outside the Israeli embassy in Washington DC where it caught fire in protest against the Israeli army’s operation in Gaza. However, security guards outside the Israeli embassy used fire extinguishers to put out the fire. As a result, a 25-year-old Texas Air Force airman suffered fatal injuries.

The New York Post reported that Aaron Bushnell posted a Twitch video on Facebook and left a message that was described as haunting. Aaron Bushnell’s last message reads “My name is Aaron Bushnell. I am an active duty member of the United States Air Force and will no longer participate in genocide. I am about to engage in an extreme act of protest, but compared to what people are going through in Palestine at the hands of their colonizers, it is not extreme at all. This is what our ruling class has decided will be normal. Free Palestine!”

It’s been many hours since Aaron Bushnell went on fire and shared his last message, but his post is still up on Facebook while Twitch immediately removed the post. Aaron Bushnell wrote on Facebook: “Many of us like to ask, ‘What would I have done if I had been alive during slavery? Or the Jim Crow South? Or apartheid? What would I do if my country committed genocide?’ The answer is, you do it. Now,”
The video lasts more than 3 minutes. It shows Aaron Bushnell dressed in full military uniform. As he walks down Embassy Row he says, “I am an active duty member of the United States Air Force. And I will no longer be an accomplice in genocide. I am about to engage in an extreme act of protest. But considering what the people experienced in Palestine from their colonizers, this is not extreme at all.
