Even though he only saw the man alone, Ren still expressed his wish for everyone to meet. So his father, seeing him, allowed him to go to his seat, and Dani immediately understood that this was exactly what this person was looking for.
This man is grieving because his beloved dog just passed away. Ren sensed it and needed to make him laugh a little and Dani was emotional when he saw his dog helping the dog he really wanted to comfort.
