After four marriages that ended in divorce, Jane Seymour no longer thinks of saying “I do” even though she is happy in her relationship with John Zambetti.
“All I know is that I’m very happy right now,” he said Harry Wild star, 73, tells PEOPLE in this week’s issue. “I am happier than I remember, since I can remember. My family is happy, everyone is happy, and I don’t want to mess with the happy. So right now it’s good where I’m at.”

The British actress says what she looks for in a relationship has changed over time.
“When you’re younger, you’re looking for a hot romance, then you’re looking for a possible baby daddy, and then maybe you’re divorced, so now you’re looking for someone else or someone who can tolerate the first two babies,” Seymour explains. “And then you decide, ‘We’re going to have more babies.’ I think I’m out of that thing.”
Today, Seymour says she wants “a partner who doesn’t do exactly the same thing as me, doesn’t need me for any of that, who is very intelligent, very creative, well-read, compassionate [and] a good human being.”

“And it was funny because I was the one making the money anyway,” she continues. “I was the one who made the decisions. Well, they made all the financial decisions. That was a mistake.”
Seymour’s second husband, businessman David Flynn, left her $9 million in debt after the divorce, so she signed a contract for dr. Quinn, the doctor. “Every time something bad happened, something better came out of it,” says Seymour.

The Emmy winner wants women to recognize their power at all ages.
“There’s an almost invisible shelf life,” she says. “It’s like, ‘OK, well, you’re not making kids and your husband probably already left you for a younger woman. Your children have probably left home to go to college by now. What now? I’d like to see women moving the wheel.'”

Seymour says she feels “very open to new ideas and new challenges”, such as starring in the Acorn TV crime series Harry Wild.
“Except Hacks, I’m the only woman my age who has her own show. This would not have happened otherwise,” she adds. “I don’t think Acorn would make a third season Harry Wild if people weren’t interested in this ridiculously crazy old lady [who] he decides to be a detective and an action hero and a comedian all at once.”

The former Bond girl doesn’t see herself retiring anytime soon either.
“I can’t even imagine it,” says Seymour. “I have a lot of energy. I live now, not yesterday. And I know what I value: I value family. I appreciate real friends. I value health. I appreciate being creatively driven and I appreciate running a nonprofit where we can at least do something to help people who are less fortunate. I think the key to happiness and longevity is to live in the moment and find your purpose.”
