When it comes to Oscar night, Jimmy Kimmel says there’s one fast food place that gets the most honors.
“The awards tradition is In-N-Out after the show,” says Kimmel, who is hosting the Academy Awards for the fourth time on March 10. “And I think part of the reason is because when people are in LA, one of the things on their list is to go to In-N-Out — and there are a lot of people who are in LA just for the Oscars — so they end up like, ‘Okay’.”
“Also, it makes you very hungry, so In-N-Out is definitely an award tradition,” he tells PEOPLE. “I don’t mind McDonald’s, but it’s In-N-Out on awards night.”
A recent Oscars promotion even leaned into the burger joint. In the clip, Best Supporting Actor nominee Ryan Gosling appears in a quirky Barbie car and exclaims, “I got In-N-Out!”
“It’s kind of a cool social media trend that happens before the Oscars,” explains Gosling, nominated for his role as Ken in Greta Gerwig’s film Barbie.
“Actually, I think the trend is In-N-Out after the Oscars,” Kimmel corrects him. “Actually, after you win an Oscar.”
“Well, that’s not going to happen,” Gosling says, throwing away his drink and bag of food. “It’s good that Greta has a director in the bag,” he adds, before America Ferrera informs him that Gerwig has been left out of the category.

Paul Giamatti enjoys a celebratory meal after winning the 2024 Golden Globes. The Holdovers
While time will tell which winners will participate in the post-Oscars trend, Paul Giamatti has already shown his love for the West Coast fast food chain after the Golden Globes. A photo of Giamatti went viral in January after he was spotted eating at In-N-Out Burger in Los Angeles with the award for Best Actor in a Comedy or Musical for his role in The Holdovers.
Then a week later, he mentioned In-N-Out during his speech at the Critics Choice Awards.
“Wow, guys,” he said. “I didn’t think my week could get any better than going viral for eating a cheeseburger. Seriously, guys, I need that support. So, let’s just pray for me.”
