Dolph Lundgren is a married man!

On July 13, 2023, after a three-year engagement, Lundgren and Emma Krokdal were married in an intimate ceremony in Mykonos, Greece.

During an interview with journalist Graham Bensinger in May 2023, Lundgren reflected on the 40-year age difference between the pair.

“I feel that Emma is very mature for her age. She has had an interesting life. She came here from a small town in Norway,” he said. “She was married here and went through a difficult divorce and went through a lot of things that most young people her age don’t have to deal with.”

Lundgren continued, “She’s pretty mature, and at the same time, I think I’m pretty youthful.”

She is Norwegian

As her Instagram bio reads, Krokdal is a “Norwegian based in Los Angeles.” Although Krokdal immigrated to California at a young age, she still occasionally returns to her home country.

In May 2023, Krokdal went on a trip to Norway where she posted pictures of herself enjoying the scenic view and driving through the Nordic countryside. “A quick trip to the homeland ❤️,” she captioned the post.

The couple even considered having a country wedding, as Lundgren explained to PEOPLE in 2022.

She is a personal trainer

Krokdal started working as a personal trainer when she moved to Los Angeles. However, her original dream growing up was a little different.

“I worked a lot in theater and it was my dream to be an actress as a child, but when I got a little older, I got into the fitness industry and that took me to LA,” she told Muscles and health.

She and Lundgren met at Equinox

The meeting between Lundgren and Krokdal took place at a very appropriate place, considering the latter’s fitness career. As the actor explained during an interview in May 2023, the couple first met at the West Hollywood Equinox.

“I was looking for the boxing room and I grabbed somebody coming up the stairs. She looked like a trainer and I said, ‘Hey, excuse me, where’s the boxing room?’ ” Lundgren recalled. “She turned around and it was like, ‘Oh…’. It was one of those flashes where you go, ‘Uh-oh.’ ”

The pair quickly became friends and began training together, although it took some time for romance to follow.

“I didn’t know why she even liked me, but I guess she saw something there. She didn’t know about my acting career, she didn’t know anything about me,” Lundgren said.

She got engaged to Lundgren in June 2020

The Belief II the actor popped the question to Krokdal in June 2020, she announced in an Instagram post alongside a photo of herself posing with Lundgren and showing off her pink diamond.

“Pinch me ❤️”, she wrote in the description.

The actor posted the same footage, writing: “Something very special happened here in Sweden.”

Lundgren opened up about his plans to marry Krokdal at the film’s premiere in June 2022 Minions: The Rise of Gru.

“It’s just because we lost two years,” he said of the couple’s wedding being postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. “Hopefully we’ll go to Scandinavia next year, and you can’t do it in the winter or you’ll be in the middle of a snowstorm. We’re hoping to do it maybe next spring or something in Norway or Sweden.”

She and Lundgren were married in Greece

The happy couple got married on July 13, 2023 in Mykonos, Greece.

“We decided to celebrate our love by getting married at our villa in Mykonos with family and a few close friends,” the couple told PEOPLE days after the event. “With COVID and a long road of challenging medical treatments, we had to push our marriage plans back many times.”

“We felt the time was finally right to celebrate love, life and happiness – in the land of the gods,” they added.

In January 2024, Lundgren spoke to Fox News about married life.

“I’m really enjoying it,” he told the newspaper, adding that Krokdal is “beautiful” and “great support.”

She was supportive during Lundgren’s battle with cancer

In May 2023, Lundgren revealed for the first time that he had been privately battling cancer for eight years. He was diagnosed in 2015 when a doctor found a cancerous tumor in his kidney.

“Then I did a scan every six months. Then you do it every year and it was fine for five years,” Lundgren explained. “In 2020 I came back to Sweden and I had some kind of acid reflux… So I did an MRI and they found that there were a few more tumors around that area.”

Lundgren credited Krokdal for standing by him throughout his battle, no matter how hard it got, including when he “started getting these side effects that gave me diarrhea, so I lost a lot of weight.”

“I felt sorry for her because she’s quite a bit younger than me and has to deal with all this ku—– and all these doctor appointments, but she was very good about it and very supportive,” He said. “I think that’s what brought us together, she’s like an angel sent to help.”

The actor added that the whole trip made him more grateful for his loved ones and helped him find a new value for life.

“Appreciate every day that I get to be with the people I love,” he said. “You just appreciate, you know, being lucky enough to be alive and appreciate every moment that exists.”

Attends red carpet events with Lundgren

Krokdal went to her first film premiere with Lundgren when she accompanied him to the premiere Minions: The Rise of Gru with his two daughters.

“She loves it. I pulled them out and got this yellow outfit last week,” Lundgren told PEOPLE on the red carpet. “I met her three years ago and she hasn’t been to the premiere yet because of COVID, so we’re really enjoying it.”

The entire team came to the event dressed in yellow. Krokdal later posted pictures of the evening on her Instagram where she posed with her future stepdaughters. “The Yellow Squad wants to see the Minions,” she wrote in the caption.

Krokdal has also accompanied Lundgren to events such as Comic-Con 2022, the 58th Cinema Audio Society Awards and Elton John’s Oscar viewing party.

She and Lundgren love to travel together

Between traveling abroad and within the US, the happy couple took numerous vacations together. In July 2023, the couple went on a trip to Mykonos, Greece where they enjoyed working out in front of the beautiful views and taking a relaxing swim.

Lundgren even teased that something big was in store during the trip, captioning a post of the two swimming in a pool, “Tomorrow is the day. Mykonos ❤️.”

Only in 2023, the couple also traveled to London; Cape Town, South Africa and Stockholm, Sweden.
