For Stephen Moyer and Anna Paquin, absence makes the heart grow fonder.
A couple who met on the set of HBO’s vampire drama Real blood In 2009, they got married in 2010 and had twins in 2012. All these years later, they still love to work together as much as they can.
“It’s just the best,” says Moyer, 54, who is now back on the small screen with sexy beast, prequel to the 2001 film.

“I mean, people often ask us, ‘Isn’t it weird working with your wife?’ And I mean, well, that’s how we met,” he says. “We were on set together every day for seven years. And so actually when we don’t work together, I feel like I miss him. It’s a strange feeling.”
The two — who also worked together on Paquin’s series Flack and recently a film A little light — they have a special understanding on set, according to Moyer.
“We have some kind of language where I can look at her and she’ll go, yeah, I get it. We [are] finishing each other’s sandwiches basically,” he adds, “It’s a line from Frozen.”

To enter his Sexy beast character Teddy Bass, Moyer says he had to dye his hair jet black — and tan weekly.
“Standing in the spray is part of the culture in these northern cities where we’ve filmed,” he says, referring to Liverpool, which stood in for London in the show. “I got to know all the local girls so well as we all lined up at the salon for our weekly tans.”
Moyer says the look helped him realize the “overconfident” character of Teddy Bass. “I developed a swagger!” he says with a laugh, though he notes that it was strange to see himself so different.
“You see yourself in the mirror right as you’re walking out the front door, and what’s looking at you isn’t this very pale guy with gray hair,” he concludes. “It’s this black head, super tan guy.”
