Why Tamar Braxton Says She's Keeping Her Relationship with Her Fiancé JR Robinson 'Completely Private' Now

Tamar Braxton withdraws her private life from the public.

In a taped interview live from Carlos King’s Reality with The King tour, Braxton, 47, fielded questions about her engagement to Jeremy “JR” Robinson, who she speculated her fans “don’t like,” sparking an uproar from the audience. Several members of the audience announced that the singer was hiding her engagement ring, which King (44) handed her on stage.

“I’m not hiding anything,” Braxton clarified. “The truth is that JR and I have decided to keep our relationship completely private. Regardless of the status, we decided to keep it a secret from everyone.”

Her reasoning for the decision came from Ashanti, who Braxton said was “working and minding her own fucking business.” The TV personality explained that Ashanti and Nelly have rekindled their romance and that “we don’t know anything about it.”

“And here they live happily ever after without drama and distractions. One day I would like to have such a life – she admitted.

Braxton wanted the public to focus less on her love life and more on her art, music and TV shows. The Love and war the singer recalled people urging her to reconcile with her ex-husband Vincent Herbert, a situation she is “so far from”.

“The fact is, I’ve gone to great lengths to create this 10th anniversary tour, and the whole relationship thing has overshadowed all the hard work I’ve put into it,” she told King. “The main story wasn’t how I was the only artist who managed to bring back a 10-year-old album, bring it back and sell out in the same places as Victoria Monét, Sexyy Red. … And be your own promoter.”

For Braxton, the gossip that overshadowed her achievements influenced her choice to become more private. She concluded: “That’s why I won’t talk about it anymore. Do you understand now?”

Robinson and Braxton first met on a dating show The Queen’s Courtwhere a lawyer proposed to her during the season finale in March 2023. Although the couple split seven months later, they reunited and got engaged for the second time on Christmas Day.

In an Instagram post announcing their second engagement, Braxton wrote: “3 months ago we thought we HATED each other and we were totally NAKED 🫠.”
