Wife Plays Oscars Send-Off Music When Husband’s Stories Take Too Long

One woman has a Hollywood-style trick to keep her husband’s stories from getting too long.

On Tuesday, TikTok creator Amber Denae Wright — who shares funny and honest videos about her and husband Nick’s relationship — shared advice with her followers who may be struggling with their partners’ chatty behavior.

In the video, as Nick begins his speech, Amber plays upbeat, upbeat orchestral music from her phone. While looking confused, he asks, “What is that? What are you playing?” she explains, “It’s the music for the Oscars. You know when the speeches are too long…”

She falls silent, before her husband answers, laughing that he “only talked for 30 seconds.”

“Trying to get him to be more concise 😂😂😂,” she captioned the video.

In another clip, Nick is extremely focused on telling a long story to someone off-camera when Amber suddenly interrupts him, playing another orchestral song. He immediately throws his head in his hands, laughing.

“She does it all week. I tell a story every time!” he jokes in the clip.

Ending the 40-second video, Amber jumps in with more music as her husband talks intently, apparently about a new TV.

He laughs once more, asking his wife, “Is this going to be the rest of my life?”

The South African couple from Cape Town have shared lighthearted moments like this with their 40,000 TikTok followers before, but this video in particular has exploded on the video-sharing app, racking up more than 2 million views and 200,000 likes since it was posted.

The couple previously went viral on TikTok. Back in October, they got more than 6 million views and 270,000 likes on a short skit in which Nick asks, “Is it just my wife who does that?” while Amber interrupts him the second he puts on his headphones.

Even some brands got in on the musical prank at the Oscars. Microsoft’s official account commented on the video, “I need this for team meetings.”

Many of the couple’s followers also got in touch. One follower wrote: “My husband is the same, he starts talking and then goes on a side quest before coming back to the story!”

“I should use this at work when guys are mansplaining,” joked another, to which the pair replied: “Very useful in that situation 😂😂😂.”

Another commenter added his two cents: “Green flag reaction!”
