William H. Macy Says He's 'Very Proud' of His Former Shameless Kids' Post-Show Success: I 'Miss Them' 

William H. Macy will always have a special place in his heart for his children Shameless.

Although the series ended in 2021 after 11 seasons, the 74-year-old actor revealed in the last episode Movies to be buried with Brett Goldstein podcast that still keeps up with them.

“They’re all doing really well, which is great. And I feel like they’re kind of my Ersatz kids, so I’m really proud of them,” said Macy, who played father-of-six Frank Gallagher.

Although it became Showtime’s longest-running original series, Macy noted that “it was about time” for Shameless come to an end.

“It was very, very sad and I really miss them,” said Macy of Emmy Rossum (Fiona Gallagher), Jeremy Allen White (Lip Gallagher), Emma Kenney (Debbie Gallagher), Ethan Cutkosky (Carl Gallagher), Christian Isaiah (Liam Gallagher Gallagher) and Cameron Monaghan (Ian Gallagher).

Macy recalled his time on the show as something he “loved.”

“I loved it. I had to go to work every day. And in the beginning, I brought my old habits into it, which is the struggle with all the scenes and the desire to rewrite and examine everything, and I carried that very much,” he said. . “But just the fact that we did it for so long, I finally settled down, and did my acting improve, and, man, did people like me more.”

The actor echoed similar sentiments in March when he shared his thoughts on White’s headline-grabbing Calvin Klein underwear campaign.

“He has a tremendous career. I’m really proud of him. I’m such a fan Bear. Now it’s on billboards in underwear,” he said in a conversation with Party tonight.

“I had to talk to him about it. You know, like his father,” he joked, noting that he told White to “put some pants on.”
