Wisconsin University Student Flatlined 3 Times, but Was Saved by His Classmates: 'A Gift'

Three students helped save colleagues who shaped three times, according to reports.

In October 2024. Humberto Barraza suffered heart arrest and almost died while in a dormitory at Concordia University in Mequon, WISC., But survived with the help of rescue of life-governed by other students, according to the ABC Affiliate WISN. The theater student just finished dancing with a friend when he felt pain in his chest, so he returned to his dorm to rest, according to CBS.

His friend, Aiden Batiansile, who was in the room, immediately started operating a CPR, according to the socket, while Wisn reported that the second student had used the first -response application, which is why Brooke trendel was in a hurry.

Trendel lived in the same building and was not only a student, but was dressed by EMT with a local fire department, according to CBS 58. She and the campus safety officers used the barraz stabilization defibrillator before they arrived in Paramedics, according to the output.

“I was thinking about the worst scenario,” Batiansile told CBS 58. “How will I live without my best friend?”

Barraza was transported to the hospital. After getting out of his own, Barraza said he lost the months of memories that led to a terrifying incident. “I took them all away, good or bad. I asked, as people do, when they come back? Doctors don’t know,” Barraza said on the way out.

According to Wisna, he was in the hospital for a month as he learned to walk and regain his speech. Now that he’s on Menng, Barraza plans to return to school in the autumn semester, CBS 58 states.

At the celebration of March 12, Barraz and the classmates who saved his life were celebrated with speeches and prayer.

“I have a son who is in college, so this is hardly affecting that Humberto is about his age,” said Emmitt Smith, a campus’ safety officer who was at the scene, said a statement for the University. “We treat all students here as if they were our children.”

Barraza felt love. “I am overwhelmed by the number of people from Concordia who reached out to me and told me to pray for me,” he said, by release. “It is not lost on me what a gift is that I am alive.”
