90 Day Fiancé’s Paul Staehle Says He Wasn’t Missing Despite Karine Staehle’s Memorial Post

Fiancé of 90 days Alum Paul Staehle is fine.

The TLC personality was presumed missing last week when his wife Karine Staehle (née Martins) shared cryptic posts about his location. Now, Paul says he was never missing – let alone dead – to begin with.

Paul told TMZ that he traveled and lived alone in Brazil. Last week he was taking a boat ride and temporarily encountered a “hiccup” on the trip. Frightened, he turned to his mother to contact emergency personnel who could send a boat back. Then Paul’s phone rang.

He and his shipmate – who was a fan Fiancé of 90 days — ended up spending “a few days” in someone’s floating house in the Amazon, where he didn’t have a phone charger.

Paul addressed speculation that the whole ordeal was a hoax. “If that was the case, I would go on Instagram Live or post things,” he told the newspaper. “I never wanted any of this to go public.”

It happened anyway because Paul’s mother texted him 90 days blogger John Yates. As seen on his Instagram profile, one message included Paul saying, “I fucked myself really bad,” before going silent.

Then Karine got involved and shared a dedicated post. “Not all our memories were bad. Our children loved you very much,” she wrote on Instagram with a video of memories from their stormy relationship. “We will never forget [sic] you or the fond memories we all shared.”

The post has since been deleted, and Karine has made her account private.

90-Day Fiancé Paul Staehle hints that estranged wife Karine Martins is expecting their second child

“Honestly, I didn’t want to add fuel to all these different fires,” Paul told TMZ, adding that he didn’t want people to “twist” his explanation.

Paul and Karine appeared in the first season of the series 90 Day Fiancé: 90 days ago. Their wedding was shown in the second season of the series.

In 2019, the couple had their first child, a boy, Pierre. Later that year, Paul claimed Karine had cheated on him and the couple split. Karine denied the cheating allegations.

The couple has recovered several times since then. They had a second son, Ethan, in 2021.

The couple’s relationship status was difficult for many to follow 90 days fans. But recently, in April, Paul and Karine announced that they had reconciled again. It seems they have since split up.

After being reunited with family, the couple’s two children were taken to Child Protective Services. Paul denied abducting the child.

Paul also once reported Karine missing in 2020, although she later denied she was missing on her Instagram Story. In 2021, she filed for a protective order against Paul, stating that she “feared for her life and the life of my son.” According to In contactKarine pulled out of the order in February 2023 shortly before the couple announced they were getting back together.
