WNBA Star Maddy Siegrist Says 'Confidence Is Key' — On and Off the Court

In a video for PEOPLE and elf’s Pep Talks series, the Dallas Wings player shared her secret to getting on the court (and inspired some young players, too)

Maddy Siegrist wants you to shoot your most confident self.

The basketball star, 23, shares her secret to playing on the court in a new video for PEOPLE and elf’s Pep Talks series — and she wants you to bring that game confidence into your life, too.

“Whether you’re hitting the field, going to the classroom, or just going about your day, remember that confidence is key,” says Siegrist.

But confidence didn’t always come so easily for the Dallas Wings star. She says good coaching has helped her improve over the years, and now she’s imparting sage advice.

“When I started playing basketball at a young age, I felt that confidence was something that not only I struggled with, but a lot of players struggled with,” Siegrist says. “And I had a coach who told me that confidence is key, and I’ve remembered that ever since.”
