The officers then identified the suspect in his 40s and launched an urgent search.

However, police today confirmed he was killed after being hit by a lorry on the M65 eastbound just hours before Barabra was found.

The police confirmed that they are not looking for other suspects.

The 35-year-old’s family described her as a “caring and hard-working person” in a moving tribute.

A spokesman for her family said: “Barbara was a caring and hardworking person.

“She was so caring and always checking on her family and friends. Barbara loved her family and enjoyed working as a caregiver.

– We loved Barbara very much and life will not be the same without her.

At the time of the incident, police said they had “identified a suspect they believe was involved,” although no arrests have been made.

A Greater Manchester Police spokesman added: “However, they do not pose a threat to the wider community at this time and officers are not currently looking for anyone else in connection with the incident.”

Those living on the street spoke of the moment they raised the alarm on Friday night.

“My daughter heard screaming and the police were called immediately,” said one woman.

“If she didn’t hear that, you can’t even imagine.” They said they heard how it all ‘started’ before a neighbor across the road ran over to help them.

“She was face down, he could feel her pulse, but she was already gone,” added the woman. “Usually it’s so quiet here, nothing like that ever happens.”

Another neighbor added: “Things like this don’t happen here, it’s usually so quiet. We can’t believe it, it’s so sad.”

And an elderly man, who lives on the same road, said: “They have been here all morning. The last time something like this happened was two years ago, it was terrible. And now this.”

The street remained plastered with officers in white forensic suits scouring the scene for clues.

Police officers were also posted outside the property.

Detective Inspector Matthew Hamer, from the Major Incident Team, said: “First and foremost I would like to extend my condolences to the woman’s family, who our officers are helping at this devastating time.

“I know that incidents of this nature will cause shock and dismay in the community, but I want residents to know that we are working to piece together a timeline of last night’s events and exactly what happened.

“Although we have identified a suspect at this time, we do not believe they pose a wider threat and no one else is being sought at this time.

“However, we are still investigating all lines of inquiry and will be on the scene over the coming days. Additional officers will be in the area and I would encourage you to speak to them if you have any concerns or concerns.
