WWE raw The brand is currently planning a massive main event pitting Brock Lesnar against Braun Strowman for the Universal Championship. show no mercy PPV, but this week’s Raw featured a huge Clash of the Titans. The seemingly indestructible Strowman went to war with fellow Titan “Big Show” for a third time, this time within the confines of a steel cage. Naturally, this became the main event period of the show.
While some wrestling fans lamented how slow the matches between the two behemoths were, in the case of Strowman and Shaw, the two performers showed great chemistry in the ring and tonight’s match was no exception. The two monsters beat each other up from pillar to post, with Shaw even flying off the top rope with a ring-shaking elbow strike. In the end, Strowman emerged victorious, superplexing Show from the top before crushing him with a running powerslam. To add insult to injury, Strowman then threw Show out of the cage, a massive feat of strength. Keep an eye on Bullock because this may well be in your future.
Near the start of the show, a different kind of conflict took place between top stars John Cena and Roman Reigns. Cena and Reigns got into a pretty heated war of words on last week’s episode, and things got even more heated this time around. Cena continues to outdo Reigns on the mic, but both men are very talented in-ring performers and will likely have a great match at No Mercy. Interestingly, a young Reigns challenged Cena to a fight at the end of the show, only to see the veteran Cena back down.
Reigns’ case is interesting because WWE clearly sees him as the man they want to lead the company forward, a position once held by Cena. Even though Reigns was a good guy in storylines, he was frequently booed by the live crowd, which led to some pretty embarrassing situations where Reigns the Conqueror was supposed to win and end the PPV to a chorus of boos. Cena almost plays the role of a disgruntled fan here, as many of his insults towards Reigns are in line with fan complaints. This is really interesting because Cena was once viewed by many fans as an unworthy corporate golden boy.
In addition to his performance with Reigns, Cena also had a great match with Raw brand newcomer Jason Jordan to start the show. While Cena got a lot of bad rap for not fielding young talent, that game really made Jordan look like a millionaire.
The other big match on the show was Jeff Hardy challenging The Miz for the Intercontinental Championship, after Hardy won a melee last week, winning this honor. The two engaged in an entertaining back-and-forth, with Hardy ultimately missing his Swanton Bomb finisher and Miz capitalizing on the skull-crushing finish.
this raw The women’s division still seems to be largely stagnant, with the same match combinations repeated ad nauseum. Sadly, this is really just a side effect of last year’s brand split, as there are currently only about seven female performers on the roster for each show. Alexa Bliss, Sasha Banks, Bayley, they’re all talented, but booking doesn’t do them any good. After tonight’s doubles match, show no mercy Now a fatal 4-way match between champion Bliss, Banks, Nia Jax and the underutilized Emma will take place on Raw Women’s Title match.
Despite victories in their respective tag team matches between champions Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose and Ruthless challengers Cesaro and Sheamus, not much progress has been made in the tag team world. The match between the two teams was summer slam Great, so people expected things to be in show no mercy.
At lightweight, Enzo Amore continues to fawn over babyfaces and piss off heels. He’s also apparently clashing with champion Neville. To this end, tomorrow’s match will feature five games 205 Live Starring Amore, Tony Nese, Cedrick Alexander, Brian Kendrick and Gran Metalik, with the winner receiving the title show no mercy. Oddly enough, the most recent champion, Akira Tozawa, didn’t even compete. One would think that being a former champion would make him at least that much money.
Last but not least, Finn Balor exchanges some dark words with Bray Wyatt, “The Eater of Worlds” challenges Balor in a No Mercy Match, and Bray Wyatt Te’s demonic self did not appear. This was apparently due to “The Fiend” beating Wyatt in the match summer slambut Wyatt seems to have forgotten that he just defeated Balor without a demon raw previous episode summer slam. Well, no one ever said crazy cult leaders had good memories.
