WWE Star Rhea Ripley Marries Pro-Wrestler Buddy Matthews: ‘Til Death’

WWE star Rhea Ripley and AEW star Buddy Matthews got married!

The couple announced the big news with a joint Instagram post on Wednesday, June 26, showing the two locked lips on what appeared to be an altar during their wedding ceremony.

In the photo, Ripley could be seen in a strapless black dress with her hair styled in loose waves as she held a red and white bouquet while Matthews wore an all-black suit with a matching black undershirt and tie.

The couple appeared to be in the middle of a ceremony as they sealed the deal with a kiss. A large red neon sign behind them read “Until Death”. The couple repeated the words in the caption of the post, revealing the date of their wedding: “06/23/24.”

Several WWE stars congratulated the couple in the comments section, including Bianca Blair, who wrote: “Congratulations!!!!!!” Pro wrestler Dominik Mysterio also captioned a string of heart emojis, while Aja Smith commented: “Congratulations ❤️.”

WWE Announcer Samantha Irvin also wrote, “Perfect 🥹 Congratulations.”

In an August 2023 Instagram post, Ripley shared that Matthews popped the question while on vacation in Cocoa Beach, Florida. In the video, she could be seen kissing the former WWE wrestler on the cheek with a big smile on her face.

Along with the photo, she wrote: “1000x YES! Pure F—— luck! ❤️”

The duo met while Matthews was wrestling for WWE under the name “Buddy Murphy” in 2021. The two Australian wrestlers eventually confirmed their relationship the following year, according to TMZ.

Earlier this year, Ripley revealed how the two supported each other despite being in different wrestling leagues.

“He knows that when he was in WWE, that’s where he peaked,” Ripley said on Logan Paul Impulsive podcast. “The platform I’m on [in WWE] is higher. I feel that it does not threaten him and says [he] neither, so I take his word for it. I believe him. I trust him.”

“He’s very comfortable in what he’s doing,” she added. “He loves helping me along the way and helping me grow, which is what a relationship should be.”
