Yar Muhammad Rind is a Pakistani politician and a member of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf. As of 2022, he serves as the chief of the Rind tribe, chairman of the Balochistan chapter of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, and leader of the PTI parliament in the Balochistan Assembly.

Sardar Yar Muhammad Rind began his political career in the 1980s by joining the Pakistan People’s Party. In March 1985, he became a member of the Senate of Pakistan and won an ordinary seat in the Balochistan constituency. He held this position until March 1988.

In 1990, Rind was elected to the National Assembly of Pakistan from NA-201 Kutch constituency. Sardar Yar Muhammad Rind served as a member of the National Assembly of Pakistan from NA-201 Jhal Magsi-cum-Bolan (Kachhi) constituency between 1993 and 1996. In 1997, Rinder contested the NA-201 Jhal Magsi-cum-Bolan (Kachhi) National Assembly elections in the name of Pakistan People’s Party and won. In 2002, he won again in the National Assembly elections from NA-267 Kutch constituency. From 2002 to 2007, Rinder served as the Federal Minister of Food, Agriculture and Animal Husbandry during the Pakistan Muslim League (Q) government.
Member of Balochistan Assembly
In 2008, Rinder won the Balochistan Assembly elections from PB-30 Bolan-I constituency on the ticket of Pakistan People’s Party. However, the party lost the election and a government was formed by the National People’s Party (NPP). From 2008 to 2013, Linde served as the leader of the opposition in the Balochistan Assembly. In October 2015, he resigned from the National People’s Party and joined the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf. In the same year, Rinder was appointed Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Balochistan.
He will serve until December 25, 2021. On August 13, 2018, he was elected as a member of the Balochistan Provincial Assembly from PB-17 Kutch-cum-Mastrung constituency in the name of National People’s Party. On March 20, 2019, Rinder was appointed as Special Assistant to Prime Minister Imran Khan in the Federal Cabinet of Pakistan, responsible for activities related to the Ministry of Water Resources, Power and Petroleum of Balochistan.
He resigned from his post in March 2022 due to continued ignorance from the Pakistani government and Prime Minister. Talking about the same issue in an interview with the media, Yair Mohammed said:
This is my final decision. I’m a special assistant [to prime minister] Only to the extent that notice is issued. I have no power. I was not even invited to any meeting on Balochistan… No one, including the federal minister, contacted me to attend any meeting. “
Rind also serves as the Provincial Minister for Secondary Education and Colleges, Technical and Higher Education in the Balochistan Cabinet since January 23, 2020.
Facts/Trivia
- Sardar Yar Mohammad Rind actively worked to provide free education to children in Pakistan. In 2015, he and his son launched a project to provide free education, food and livelihood to about 400 Pakistani children.
- In November 2019, Rind laid the foundation stone of Mir Chakar Rind Grid Station in Dhadar, Balochistan.
- In 2022, audio clips went viral on social media in which Pakistani politician and former cricketer Imran Khan could be heard talking to a woman, allegedly Lind’s ex-wife Ella Malik ) had an inappropriate conversation.
