The finale of “Young Sheldon” Season 6 ended with a chaotic series of events as a massive storm ravaged Sheldon’s hometown. A dangerous storm disrupts the Coopers’ plans as Sheldon (Iain Armitage) prepares to fly overseas for his summer research project. Meanwhile, Georgie (Montana Jordan) and Mandy (Emily Osment) embark on a romantic spa vacation for a couple with surprising results. Their ride home even has a signature tune that might accentuate Mandy’s feelings about their complicated relationship.
Before the memorable finale, the prequel slightly tweaks what fans know from “The Big Bang Theory,” such as changing Sheldon’s age during a trip to Germany. This left fans with many surprises during the hour-long finale, such as Georgia and Mandy’s engagement. After their awkward trip was cut short, “Young Sheldon” delivers a much-anticipated moment from the couple.
In the final scene of the episode, Mandy makes a surprising move. She turns off the radio in the car and agrees to marry Georgie after his many marriage proposals. Mandy even seems to be moved by the popular 1990s Gin Blossoms lyrics “Hey Jealousy”, which may reflect her current feelings.
Georgie and Mandy have a complicated relationship, especially after she finds out he lied about his age. In their conservative homeland, Mandy’s image would be tarnished by having an illegitimate child with an underage teenager. Over time, Georgie matured into a responsible and loving father, which quelled many of Mandy’s doubts as they raised their daughter together.
However, during their couple’s massage, Georgie and Mandy argue about his many advances, prompting Mandy to repeatedly refuse. This starts to clear the atmosphere by showing Mandy how hurt Georgie is and how much she wants them to be a family. On the way home, Mandy ponders the situation when he hears the lyrics to the song “Hey Jealousy” by the Gin Blossoms.
After hearing the next lyrics – “You’re the coolest person I’ve ever had. If I hadn’t blown all those years away, I probably wouldn’t have been single” – Mandy turned the volume down. At this point, she thinks about their past relationship and thinks about the future. This leads fans to the moment they’ve all been waiting for when she proposes to him and they seal the deal with a kiss.
