Zach Bryan Teases Collaborations with 'Great Friends' Bruce Springsteen and John Mayer for New Album

Zach Bryan’s upcoming album is set to take listeners on a journey The great American bar scene — and it looks like he’s bringing some pretty famous friends along for the ride.

According to an Instagram post the “Something in the Orange” singer shared on Tuesday, July 2, his latest opus, set for release on July 4, will also feature special collaborations with Bruce Springsteen and John Mayer as sampled by Bryan Adams.

“I wrote and produced all of this with the help of some really great friends. I finally feel like I’m making music again,” Bryan shared in a handwritten note as part of the post.

The fine print at the bottom of the image mentions that Springsteen appears on a project made possible by his label, Columbia Records.

The song “The Way Back” is listed as containing elements from the work “Heaven” written by Adams and his songwriting partner, Jim Vallance. Further contributions of vocal sampling from the creator of “Leta 69” appear on the song “Bass Boat”.

As for “Track 13” on the project, the liner notes state that it was produced by Bryan, Mayer, Chris Braun and Scott Zhang.

“Track 13” likely refers to Bryan and Mayer’s previously teased collaboration “Better Days,” which the two performed together live on stage in Los Angeles in June, according to a TikTok clip. In the clip, Bryan delivers the song’s full vocals while Mayer delivers an ethereal guitar solo with a hint of country.

After the performance, Mayer went on his Sirius XM radio show, Life with John Mayerto give high praise to Bryan, calling his concert “one of the most amazing things I’ve seen in years.”

“He cracked some code that I’ve been waiting for someone to crack,” he continued. “He got into a thing with people that should give everyone hope. Sometimes you start to feel like, ‘Oh, it’s going to be a long time before a lot of people like one thing again,’ [but] a lot of people like the Zach Bryan shows. Including myself. It was amazing.”

Likewise, Bryan and Springsteen’s collaboration on the album likely refers to the unreleased song “Sandpaper,” which the pair performed together at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY, in March, according to footage shared by the arena on Instagram.

Prior to that performance, Bryan performed “Sandpaper” live for the first time as a solo act at the Prudential Center in Newark, NJ, Springsteen’s home state.

Just two months later in the Big Apple, Bryan and Springsteen took the stage together alongside “Alaska” singer Maggie Rogers at Madison Square Garden to perform Bryan’s hit song “Revival.”

Bryan and his girlfriend Brianna “Chickenfry” Lapaglia have been open about their love for the “Glory Days” hitmaker in recent months, with Bryan often wearing a “United States vs. Bruce Springsteen” hat in videos shared on social media.
