Zoe Lister-Jones divorced her husband Daryl Wein after 17 years of marriage. She has just filed for divorce from Daryll, citing irreconcilable differences in the court records. In 2021, the actress revealed that she was divorced from Wein, with the separation date set for February 1, 2021. The couple had no children and Zoe did not want the court to support the couple. She also asked the court to keep things simple during the division of assets and confirm the final separation order was issued in May 2021.

In the Fox comedy New Girl, Zoe Lister-Jones plays Fawn Moscato. Moscato is a Los Angeles City Hall who appeared in five episodes of the show as a recurring character. The main character is a tough and scary politician. She tried to manipulate Schmidt and turn him into a political tool while dating him, and it worked. When a photo of Moscato reaching for a golf ball in his underwear went viral, it sent Schmidt reeling. Fawn and Schmidt split up after the former asked Schmidt to marry her so that the media could focus entirely on them. The series New Girl began in September 2011 and ended in May 2018. The show lasted seven seasons and 146 episodes, receiving excellent reviews from critics and fans.

Although it is not clear how they met, Zoe-Lister Jones and Daryl Wein got married in 2013. They have even worked together on several projects, including Lola Versus, Consumed and How It Ends. In an episode of the WTF podcast with Marc Maron discussing her marriage, she identifies herself as an insider and an outsider in an open relationship. She claims that despite the fact that she and Wein agreed on the deal, Zoe is unhappy that Daryl is seeing someone else. She stated:
“I would say that fitting in when your partner comes home from sex is a tough day.” I believe it would be very difficult to change the show… It’s hard not to feel possessive or jealous.”
