Authorities are investigating the cause of a fire that engulfed two mobile homes on Thanksgiving morning
Five people died in a fire at a mobile home community in Ohio on Thanksgiving morning.
Authorities responded to the fire around 7:30 a.m. local time in Athens County, Ohio, and found two mobile homes on fire, CBS News reported.
One of the mobile homes was completely engulfed in flames, and its roof collapsed.
After the fire was contained, the bodies of five people — including two children — were found inside the home, Ohio Department of Commerce spokesman Brandon Klein told NBC News.
The identity of the victims and the cause of death are not yet known.
One person managed to escape the fire, according to Klein, and was treated for his injuries at a nearby hospital.
The cause of the fire remains unknown and its origin is under investigation by the Ohio State Fire Marshal’s Office, the Athens County Sheriff’s Office and the coroner’s office, NBC News reported.

One of the volunteer firefighters who responded to the fire — Chief Dale Sinclair of the Richland Area Volunteer Fire Department — said of the tragedy, “Any fatality, it’s tough. When there are five of them and there are children in question, it contributes additionally.”
According to CBS, some of the firefighters who responded to the fire knew people who lived in the homes, Sinclair said.
The trial was planned to provide “mental health support” to those who knew the victims.
