Jennifer Lopez Reveals Release Date for This Is Me… Now Album and Companion Film

Jenny from the block is back with her first new album in almost a decade!

On Monday, Jennifer Lopez announced the official release date of her ninth studio album, This is me… now, and the accompanying film. Both are due out on February 16, 2024.

The announcement comes more than two decades after the release of her third album, This is me… Then. New the project, which serves as a follow-up to the 2002 record, will be composed of both This is me… now: the album and This is me… now: the moviewhich will be available to stream on Prime Video.

Lopez, 54, made the announcement on social media while also teasing the release of her new single, “Can’t Get Enough,” which arrives on January 10.

Lopez also teased the project by releasing a promotional clip over the weekend, featuring plenty of choreography and what appears to be the title track with the lyrics to “This is me now.”

“This musical experience is a manifestation through music, film and the reality of life’s journey in search of the truth about love,” is the message at the end of the clip.

Another preview, shared Monday, showed Lopez sitting outside in the rain while reading a letter and throwing it into a fireplace. “When I was a little girl, when someone asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up, my answer was always… in love,” she said in the video.

The letter that Lopez threw into the fire is dated December 24, 2002 and signed “B.” It says: “Life is hard, but you’re sweet. Thanks for the gift. I hope you like the flowers. You told me you’d never have enough. I believe you.”

This is me… Now: Album features writing and executive production by Lopez and Rogét Chayed, and features additional writing by Angel Lopez, Jeff “Gitty” Gitelman, HitBoy, Tay Keith, INK and more, according to the release. It has been described as the musician’s “most honest and personal” LP to date.

The film, directed by Dave Meyers, will serve as a “musical and visual reimagining of her publicly scrutinized love life,” according to a statement. The film was also written by Lopez’s husband, Ben Affleck, as well as Matt Walton. And according to a statement, fans can expect a “narrative, intimate, reflective, sexy, funny, fantastical and highly entertaining musical and visual reimagining of her publicly scrutinized love life.”

Lopez previously announced the effort in November 2022, when she shared a video of herself recreating the cover of This is me… Then, which was dedicated to Affleck. At the time of the album announcement, Lopez shared a 13-song tracklist, including a track titled “Dear Ben pt. II.”

“This album is a philosophy, a reflection, a zeitgeist moment,” stated the 2022 release. “It’s about hope, faith and true love that never dies.”
