Sarper and Shekinah are finally engaged, but the fate of their tumultuous relationship remains uncertain.
Shekinah agreed to take Sarper’s hand during a romantic boat ride in Turkey during the November 11 episode 90 Day Fiancé: Another way.
However, the engagement was only the first step in Sarper’s plan to try to keep Shekinah in Turkey, without her knowledge, despite having obtained a K-1 visa approved by the United States that would allow him to move to the country.
Sarper began his proposal by thanking the Shekinah for helping him transform from “the most hateful, toxic man on the planet” into a “loving man.”

“I don’t know how you did it, but you broke in, hacked my password, logged into me, and changed all my defaults one by one,” he said as they sipped red wine together.

Sarper then escorted Shekinah outside, where he sang a personally written song for his bride-to-be.
He then got down on one knee and pulled out a Shekinah engagement ring, but instead of popping the question, he declared, “I will marry you!”

“You’re just telling me?” Shekinah laughed as she and Saprer hugged, to which he replied, “I hate asking yes and no questions. But you accepted it!”

But the engagement celebration did not end there. Later, the couple met with Sarper’s family for an official Turkish engagement ceremony, during which Shekinah was tasked with making her fiance a terrible-tasting coffee to see if he could drink it without a reaction.
Sarper’s cousin Füsun, who explained the Shekini tradition, said the goal was to test the husband and see “how badly” he wanted to marry her.

But when it came time for the ceremony, Sarper found it difficult to keep a straight face. “Is that a little face you’re pulling?” Shekinah asked as his family members chuckled at his reaction.
“It was disgusting,” Sarper admitted in the confessional. “I tried not to react. I don’t know if I succeeded, but ugh.”

The coffee ceremony was followed by a ring ceremony where Sarper and Shekinah put on the rings connected by a red ribbon which was then cut by the eldest family member to symbolize the beginning of the engagement.
Afterwards, Sarper informed his family that his K-1 visa had been approved by the US, but claimed he wanted to stay in Turkey with Shekinah rather than relocate.

“My goal is that we can live here,” Sarper said in Turkish, a language Shekinah still does not speak fluently. “I hope all the love she saw from you here and our culture convinced her [to stay].”
But when Shekinah asked for a translation, Sarper didn’t tell her about his big plan.
“My family, they don’t want me to leave and they love Shekinah,” Sarper explained, “so I’m still hopeful that eventually we can convince Shekinah to stay here in Turkey.”

Meanwhile, Shekinah was feeling “hopeful for the future,” and seems clueless about Sarper’s plan.
“I never thought that today I would be standing here engaged to the man in the picture and planning a future with him,” she said in the confessional.
“It’s so surreal and I can’t wait to go to the US and start our lives together,” added Shekinah.
