A Guide to Setup AT&T Email Account on MS Outlook 2007, 2010, 2013 and 2016

Using Outlook as an email client is very useful, especially when it allows you to set up other email accounts like Yahoo, SBCGlobal, Gmail, and AT&T.

So if you are an AT&T customer and want to set up your account in Outlook, this guide will help you. Outlook is available in many versions, so you need to follow the steps depending on which version of Outlook you have. This will help you easily sign in to your AT&T account using Outlook.

AT&T Mail Settings in Outlook 2007

If you are using Outlook 2007 and want to set up an AT&T email account for it; Here are the steps to take if you’re setting up your email for the first time or on a new device. Be sure to use the correct AT&T email settings for Outlook 2007 to properly set up your account.

  • Open Outlook and select Tools on the menu bar, then click Account Settings.

  • Click New (the only highlighted option you see in the image).

                Click New on the Email tab

  • An ‘Add new email account’ dialog box will appear where you need to check the ‘Manually configure additional server type or server settings’ box and click ‘Next’.

  • Select the ‘Internet Email’ option to connect to POP, IMAP or HTTP and click ‘Next’.

Select Internet Email and click 'Next'

  • Now you need to enter the necessary information in the Internet email settings:

user information

Your name: Enter the name you want to show to others

Email Address: Enter your full AT&T email address

server information

Account type: Select IMAP or POP3

Incoming mail server: imap.mail.att.net (IMAP) or inbound.att.net (POP3)

Outgoing mail server: smtp.mail.att.net (IMAP) or outbound.att.net (POP3)

Information Enter

Username: Enter your full email address.

Password: Enter your AT&T secure email password

Check the box for ‘Require login using secure password authentication (SPA)’ and click ‘More settings’.

  • Click the ‘Outgoing Server’ tab and check the ‘My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication’ box. Select the ‘Use the same settings as my incoming mail server’ option.

Click the 'Outgoing server' tab and select the 'My outgoing (SMTP) server requires authentication' and 'Use the same settings as my incoming mail server' checkboxes

  • Click on the “Advanced” tab and enter the necessary information.

Incoming Server: Enter 993 (IMAP) or 995 (POP3)

Check the box for ‘This server requires a secure connection (SSL)’.

Outgoing server: enter 465 (IMAP and POP3)

Use the following type of encrypted connection: SSL

  • Click OK, Next, and then Finish; You have successfully set up your AT&T account.

Press the Accept, Next and Finish buttons to successfully set up your AT&T account

AT&T mail settings in Outlook 2013

If you are using Outlook 2013 and want to set up an AT&T email account for it; Here are the steps to take if you’re setting up your email for the first time or on a new device. Make sure you use the correct AT&T email settings for Outlook 2013 to properly set up your account.

  1. In Outlook, click the File menu, and then click Add Account.

In Outlook, click File, then click Add Account

  • Select the option “Manual configuration or additional server types” and then click “Next”.

  • Select POP3 or IMAP account settings and fill in the required information:

Your name: Enter the name you want to show to others

Email Address: Enter your full AT&T email address

server information

Account type: Select IMAP or POP3

Incoming mail server: Enter imap.mail.att.net (IMAP) or inbound.att.net (POP3)

Outgoing mail server: Enter smtp.mail.att.net (IMAP) or outbound.att.net (POP3)

Information Enter

Username: Enter your full email address.

Password: Enter your AT&T secure email password

You should also check the box for ‘Remember password’ and ‘Require login using secure password authentication’. Once you are done with that, click on More Settings.

Select your IMAP or POP3 account type to enter 'User Information, Server Information, and Login Information' and then click the 'More Settings' link

  • Click the ‘Outgoing server’ tab and check ‘My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication’; also select ‘Use the same settings as my incoming mail server’.

Open the 'Outgoing server' tab and select the 'My outgoing (SMTP) server requires authentication' and 'Use the same settings as my incoming mail server' checkboxes

  • Click on the “Advanced” tab and enter the following information:

Incoming Server: Enter 993 (IMAP) or 995 (POP3)

Use the following type of encrypted connection: SSL

Outgoing Server: Enter 587 (IMAP) or 465 (IMAP and POP3)

Use the following type of encrypted connection: SSL

Now click OK and then press ‘Next’. Once your AT&T email account has been successfully set up, click “Finish.”

AT&T Mail Settings in Outlook 2010

If you are using Outlook 2010 and want to set up an AT&T email account for it; Here are the steps to take if you’re setting up your email for the first time or on a new device. Be sure to use the correct AT&T email settings for Outlook 2010 to properly set up your account.

  • Open Outlook, click File, and then click “Add Account.”

  • After that, select ‘Manually configure server settings or additional server types’ and click ‘Next’.

  • Select the Internet Email option and click ‘Next’.

  • Now you must fill in the following information:

Account type: Select IMAP or POP3

  • Click on the “Advanced” tab and enter the necessary information.

Incoming Server: Enter 993 (IMAP) or 995 (POP3)

Use the following encrypted connection type: Outgoing SSL server: Enter 465 (IMAP and POP3)

Use the following type of encrypted connection: SSL

Now click OK and then press ‘Next’. Once your AT&T email account has been successfully set up, click “Finish.”

Set up AT&T mail in Outlook 2016

If you are using Outlook 2016 and want to set up an AT&T email account for it; Here are the steps to take if you’re setting up your email for the first time or on a new device. Make sure you use the correct AT&T email settings for Outlook 2016 to properly set up your account.

  • Open Outlook and click File, then click ‘Add Account’.

  • Select Pop or IMAP email settings and enter the following information:

Outgoing mail server: Enter smtp.mail.att.net (IMAP) or outbound.att.net (POP3)

  • Now click OK and then press ‘Next’. Once your AT&T email account has been successfully set up, click “Finish.”
