While vacationing in the Australian outback with his dog Choco, Wayne Best and his family were attacked by a crocodile.
Wayne is terrified that he will lose his best friend forever. Wayne spent two days cuddling his dog while they went to the vet because he couldn’t bear to lose it.
After Wayne and Choco spotted a wild boar along the Mitchell River, 286 miles northwest of Cairns, Australia, a three-year-old bull terrier and Arabian bull gave chase. A huge crocodile jumped out of the water and attacked him.
The alligator shook Choc and pulled him into the water, Wayne told the Cairns Post. Choco emerged and swam back to land two minutes later, but the crocodile was nowhere to be seen.
“I just pulled him out of the water and threw him ashore,” Wayne told reporters. I bandaged him up and patched up some of his wounds, including those in his stomach and elsewhere, and brought him back to the camp.
With no way to get them to the hospital by car and the nearest road more than 60 miles away, Best carried his dog through the bushes for help. Choco’s leg was surgically repaired when Wayne took the car to the nearest vet.
The three-year-old is expected to make a full recovery, but it will take a long time to recover over the next few months. Animal rights activists discovered what Wayne had done for his dog and contributed enough money to cover all veterinary expenses.
