Facts/Trivia
- Abdulla Aboobacker initially started his athletic career by competing in track and field events such as 100m and 200m sprints and hurdles. Later, with fewer competitions, he switched to the triple jump. In an interview, he spoke about this and said:
I used to run 100m, 200m, and hurdles, but there was a lot of competition. I realized early on that it was difficult to stand out at these events. I just tried the triple jump because no one was taking it and it quickly became my favorite. ”
- Eldhose Paul, the 2022 Commonwealth Games gold medalist, is a close friend of Abdullah. They met at the Masters Academy and Training in Kerala and trained under the same coach. In an interview, Erdjos Paul spoke about the bond between him and Abdullah, saying:
We talk to each other about our technique and our tempo on the track. We are always motivating each other and giving guidance on issues that arise in other people’s jumps. From the coach’s position in the stands, they cannot see the full picture of technique and rhythm. We’re on site up close so we can see things that others can’t. Yes, we have a competitive mentality when we play. But even so, we both kept giving each other advice. “
- According to Abdullah Abu Bakr, two days before competing at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, he began to feel dizzy, lost nearly four kilograms in weight and felt inexplicably weak. Later, he spoke about the incident to his close friend Eldoshe Paul. Abdullah spoke about this in an interview, saying:
I am a little scared. So, I decided to talk to Elderhorse. He assured me there was nothing to worry about. He asked me to take some electrolytes because I might be sodium deficient. I knew he was the only one I could confide in. I can trust him with anything. ”
