AN ACTRESS who accused Hollywood star Gerard Depardieu of alleged sexual assault took her own life, French media reported.
Emmanuelle Debever worked in the 1982 film Danton alongside Depardieu, who vehemently denied allegations of rape and sexual assault.

In the film, she played Louison, the very young wife of leading man Depardieu.
Emmanuelle was known as a promising young talent in French cinema in the 1980s, but later withdrew from the limelight.
She allegedly took her own life at the age of 60 on December 7, reports the French newspaper Liberation.
On the same day, a documentary film about the sexual assault allegations against Depardieu was broadcast on the France 2 TV channel, reports the Daily Express US.

In June 2019, the actress published a short message on her Facebook profile in which she accuses her colleague of allegedly sliding his hand up her skirt during filming in a caravan.
Depardieu strongly denied the allegations and broke his silence in October with an open letter in the French newspaper Le Figaro.
“I can no longer agree to what I hear, what I have read about myself for several months,” he wrote.
“Finally, I want to tell you my truth.
“I have never, ever abused a woman.
“Hurt a woman would be like kicking your own mother in the stomach.”
Titled Gerard Depardieu: The Fall of the Ogre, the document covered a number of other alleged allegations against the 74-year-old.
Several accusations of sexual assault have been brought against Depardieu, all of which he categorically denies.
French actress Charlotte Arnould has openly accused the actor, a family friend, of raping her twice in 2018 when she was 22 and anorexic, MailOnline reported.
She stated that she weighed about 81 pounds at the time.
In December 2020, he was placed under official investigation, but not imprisoned.
This April, the French investigative portal Mediapart published a report accusing him of abusing 13 more women between 2004 and 2022.
One of them, actress Helene Darras, filed a sexual assault lawsuit against Depardieu in September, citing an incident during a 2007 film production.
