When Sandler, 58, appeared on The Day Patrick Show on Friday, December 6 for discussion Happy Gilmore 2 — which features host Dan Patrick, Travis Kelce and a host of other celebrity and media personalities in cameo appearances — Patrick, 67, revealed that the “Lose Yourself” rapper, 52, will also appear in the film.

“I don’t know if they will – they will shout at me no matter what because they asked me not to do anything with the press, but what do you want to say?” Sandler said after Patrick asked if he could discuss specific episodes in the film. “You say, and I’ll tell you whether it’s good or bad to talk about it.”

“Can I talk about Eminem having a cameo?” Patrick said with a laugh. “Okay, yes, yes, you can,” Sandler replied. “Eminem was cool, he stopped by, he was great.”

Sandler did not reveal exactly what role Eminem will play in the next one Happy Gilmore movie, the sequel to his classic 1996 golf sports comedy, or how he convinced the rapper to star in the upcoming Netflix movie. “I can’t tell you all that, but I’ve known Eminem for a long time, he’s a great guy and he came and he was funny as hell,” he said. “I think we just hung out with Eminem for one day and he was just shooting and shooting and he was crazy. [He] said a million things we can use and a million we’re glad to have him on tape.”

Netflix has announced that Sandler will direct the sequel Happy Gilmore in May, two months after Christopher McDonald — who played evil golfer Shooter McGavin in Happy Gilmore — let’s forget that the sequel was in development during the March 2024 interview.

In addition to McDonald, Kelce, Sandler, Patrick, Margaret Qualley and Eminem, the upcoming sequel will also feature Benny Safdie in a “juicy part,” Sandler told IndieWire in August.

During Sandler’s appearance on Patrick’s show, he also hinted that retired golf legend Jack Nicklaus, 84, also has a cameo. Sandler said he hopes to premiere the comedy on Netflix “in July,” though he didn’t reveal an exact release date.

“A lot — I want it to be great,” Sandler said, when asked by Patrick if he felt the pressure of making a sequel nearly 30 years after the release of the original film. “We’ve got a lot of good things — I mean good things — and we just want to make sure everything comes together and goes from start to finish, and that’s the goal. We’ll see. We’re definitely nervous, but we’re feeling some kind of confidence.”
