Addison Rae Channels Her Song 'Aquamarine' in Mermaid-Inspired Look and New Blonde Hair at 2024 CFDA Awards

Addison Rae knows how to make a statement

The 24-year-old singer and social media personality came dressed to impress at the 2024 CFDA Fashion Awards held at the Museum of Natural History in New York City on Monday (October 28).

Rae wore a mermaid-inspired look – perfectly channeling her latest track “Aquamarine.” Her dress consisted of a gray corseted top and a plaid skirt with a mini train covered in sequins, all by Thom Browne. She even carried a shell handbag and completed her look with brand new mermaid-perfect blonde hair in waves that looked like she had just stepped out of the water.

The pop star’s appearance at the CFDA Fashion Awards, presented by Amazon Fashion, comes days after the Oct. 25 release of her latest single, “Aquamarine.” The song marks her second single since the release of her debut hit “Diet Pepsi,” which dropped in August and topped the charts. The music video for her second song was super stylish, featuring looks inspired by ’60s and ’70s icons like Jane Birkin and Brigitte Bardot, per Harper’s Bazaar.

The social media star has already made an appearance at the 2022 CFDA Awards, wearing a Gareth Pugh design with a hood and dramatic black pumps. She completed her look with a classic black lounger.

The daring hooded ensemble was a departure from Rae’s typical red carpet choices. The content creator explained her outfit decision in a conversation with Voguesaying at the time, “I never want to put myself in a box.”

She explained: “I like to try new things and take risks.” Later in her conversation with the fashion house, she called Pugh’s designs “wearable pieces of art,” adding, “The dress should be in a museum.”

Rae’s arrival at the 2024 CFDA Awards comes a month after her red carpet look at the MTV Video Music Awards held at the UBS Arena in New York City on September 11 this year.

The singer stepped out in an all-white underwear ensemble reminiscent of Madonna’s 1984 VMAs performance and the iconic 2003 recreation of the Queen of Pop moment with Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera.

“This older thing? This is Miss Claire Sullivan, and it’s the norm,” Rae told MTV in a red carpet interview about the look: a white feathered bra, matching panties and a voluminous tulle skirt with multiple feathers.
