Aditya Choudhary was born on Friday, December 7, 2001, in Mumbai (age 20; as of 2021). His zodiac sign is Sagittarius. He went to school at Balmohan Vidyamandir in Mumbai. He is a student of Sara Anil Modi School of Economics, NMIMS. Since childhood, he has actively started swimming, playing tabla and practicing judo.

Although Aditya has been practicing swimming since the age of 4, his journey began in 2013 when he met a man named Nayan Shah, whose name was included in the Limca Book of Records as the first person to turn 50 Above becomes an Indian male in triathlon. Aditya revealed in an interview,

In 2013, I met Mr. Nayan Shah, the first Indian over the age of 50 to complete an Ironman triathlon. When I heard this sentence, I was shocked! I knew my eighteenth birthday was coming up on Saturday and there had to be a triathlon somewhere in the world that I could try, so I started training. “

The minimum age to participate in a triathlon is 18 years. Aditya turned 18 on the day of the 2019 Ironman Triathlon, December 7, 2019, making him the youngest triathlete in the world. The triathlon was held in Bahrain and Aditya completed the race in 6 hours, 5 minutes and 4 seconds. He was trained by Dr. Mihir Patki, an orthopedic surgeon and sports medicine physician. He was assisted by Indian politician Suresh Prabhu.

After becoming the world’s youngest Ironman, he expressed his feelings in an interview and said:

The moment I finished speaking, tears burst into my eyes – this is the most precious moment in my life! Whenever I am tired from swimming, cold, and my muscles feel like they are on fire, I can only recall the six years of hard work I have put in to get to this day. Furthermore, I want to achieve this for our country”

He has also participated in various long-distance cycling events, including cycling from Mumbai to Lonavala, Igatpuri, Pratapgarh and Ambi Valley. In January 2014, he completed the Standard Chartered Marathon with his father.

Facts/Trivia

  • Aditya had to undergo three surgeries. His first surgery was when he was five years old. He suffered from some ENT problems, so a tube was put in his ear, and he was advised not to swim. In 2012, he underwent another surgery and had his tonsils removed. In 2021, he underwent a third surgery to clear some blockages in his nasal passages.
  • As a child, he participated in judo; however, his ear, nose and throat problems caused some changes in his facial structure and he had to wear braces, after which he was unable to participate in judo.
  • A few months before the triathlon, Aditya came down with chickenpox, and he stopped training for a few weeks. After recovering from chickenpox, he decided to move into a college dormitory to save time commuting and devote that time to training for events.
  • Aditya’s coach Dr. Mihir Patki, an orthopedic surgeon and sports medicine doctor who was inspired by him, said:

    Aditya, with his commitment and resilience, has now inspired me to compete in the 2020 Ironman race in Melbourne. “

  • His goal was to ride the Khardung La pass, considered the highest motorable mountain pass in the world, and the next step was Everest Base Camp.
  • According to Aditya, he wants to switch to a vegan lifestyle.
