Accident at AEC Assam College of Engineering
Authorities claimed that the fatal accident involving students from the Assam College of Engineering took place at around 12:30 am in Jalukbari, Guwahati. DCP Padmanabh Barugh explained the circumstances surrounding the fatal accident after conducting a preliminary investigation. However, the investigation is still ongoing and officers are looking into the details. Padmanabh Barugh said they were traveling in a van that turned into a turtle, crossed to the other side of the road and hit a small van coming from the other side. As a result of the collision, the SUV flipped over and struck another vehicle. The Guwahati-West Deputy Commissioner of Police said: “The accident occurred when the SUV crossed to the other side of the road, hit the divider, flipped over and struck another vehicle. The DCP added that seven passengers in the van (all AEC students) were pronounced dead at the scene, while three AEC students sustained injuries in the crash. A total of six people were injured in the accident, three high school students and three passengers from another vehicle. The emergency services transferred all the injured to the Guwahati Medical College Hospital and a private hospital. The six injured are now in critical condition. The cause of the accident was not found. The bodies of the deceased have been sent for autopsy. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted: “Extremely shocked at the loss of precious young lives in the Jalukbari road accident. My deepest condolences to his parents and family. I’ve spoken to GMCH authorities. All possible medical assistance is provided to the injured.”
