Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos Joke About Their Different Recollections of Their First Kiss: She ‘Slipped the Tongue’

Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos have been married for a solid 27 years, but there’s one thing they’ll never agree on!

In an interview with Party tonightthe Living with Kelly and Mark hosts revealed their surprisingly different memories of their first kiss.

The pair first locked lips on screen in 1996 while playing their own All My Children characters Hayley Vaughan and Mateo Santos.

The Riverdale the actor, 52, said he was “very surprised” about the kiss at the time because she “slipped her tongue”. However, Ripa, 52, strongly denied his version of events.

“That’s not true!” she protested, with a laugh. “It is lie.”

“It was the ’90s, so it was fast and casual,” Conseulos said with a grin. — Big tongue.

The actress continued to argue, insisting to her now-husband: “I was never French [kiss] on set. That’s my personal rule – no Frenching on set.”

The couple met for the first time on the set All My Children when Consuelos joined the soap in 1995 and started dating soon after. They married in May 1996, and their characters followed in their footsteps by getting married on screen in 2000.

The couple has since had three children: sons Joaquin, 20, and Michael, 26, as well as daughter Lola, 22.

‘All My Children’ retrospective photos by Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos

The Riverdale star permanently joined his wife as a co-host Live in February, succeeding Ryan Seacrest after his departure. Before getting the official position, Consuelos was a guest on the show 92 times.

“I think people think we’re on top of each other all day,” he said ET working with his wife. “We see each other for a few hours in the morning, and nowadays we often don’t see each other until dinner. Because we’re both doing different things. I don’t think that’s, you know, too much time. There’s no such thing.”

In April, Ripa told PEOPLE that co-hosting with her husband is a “dream come true” and that they are “uniquely blessed.”
