The 27-year-old Korean-Canadian actor recently spoke with Esquire Korea about his blockbuster series Business Proposal, working with lead actor Kim Se-Jeong, and more. Ahn Hyo-seop, the current face of the K-drama industry, said he accepted the role in Business Proposal after reading only three episodes of the script. The actor claimed that he didn’t need much persuasion to accept the role of hard-working, kind-hearted CEO Kang Tae-moo in the romcom.
The interviewer congratulated the actor on the success of the series, telling him that it definitely showed his main power. The actor responded by saying:
“I appreciate your affection so much.” The choice to participate was also simple. Writing was fun. I got to episode 3 and called right away.”
He was quite enthusiastic about the performance. So much so that he didn’t think about whether the program would be successful or not, but accepted it because it was fun.
“I didn’t even think about whether it would work or not. I worked with ease because I was convinced that it would be pleasant, and so were all the other performers and crew members.”

27-year-old Ahn Hyo-seop has produced numerous hit dramas. He showed his acting abilities in Doctor Romance 2, Bezdan and Lovers of the Red Sky. However, the live adaptation of the rom-com webtoon The Business Proposal catapulted it to popularity. His portrayal of Kang Tae-moo, a young, good-natured and witty CEO, attracted a lot of attention. The questioner informed Ahn Hyo-seop that he reminded him of Kang Tae-moo during a Q&A with Esquire Korea. In response, he said,
“I believe that’s why I got compliments on how relaxed I was playing him, even though there were a few lines that made me wince because of the nature of the drama.” Overall, I felt at ease saying those lines because our (the characters’ and my) emotional paths were parallel.”
The business proposal was a hit because of Ahn Hyo-seop and the equally excellent Kim Se-Jeong, whose naturally hilarious performance had people laughing. Ahn Hyo-seop had this to say about the actress’ enthusiasm on set:
“I’m not the type to speak first unless someone forces me to.” But thanks to the pleasant mood set by Kim Se-Jeong and the whole team, I had a great day.”
He continued to compliment her, saying:
“She (Kim Se-Jeong) is attentive and caring.” “I wish her success as an actress and as a person.”

The business deal ended a few months ago in April, but fans’ affection for the story and Ahn Hyo-seop lives on. The actor will next be seen in the Korean version of the popular Taiwanese drama Someday or One Day, starring Vincenzo opposite Jeon Yeo-been.
