Al Roker’s co-author of his upcoming cookbook is “someone very special” — his daughter Courtney Roker Laga!
In the episode of June 20 Todayannounced the presenter who will announce Al Roker’s recipes for life October 15. Al, 69, revealed Courtney, a chef and recipe developer, worked on the project while pregnant with her first child, Sky, now 11 months.
Al shares Courtney with ex-wife Alice Bell. He is also the father of daughter Leila (25) and son Nick (21), who he shares with wife Deborah Roberts.
The father-daughter duo’s new book will share 100 recipes, including dishes like sunrise burritos, coffee and spice-rubbed pork chops, Christmas morning cinnamon rolls, bourbon apple pie milkshake, Tuscan polenta and lemon crumb pie.

During Al’s announcement, he told his co-hosts that Courtney came up with the idea, “tested all the recipes and wrote them — she did a great job — found a stylist to do it and a photographer.”
“I wrote some things,” he added. “I wrote some of what they call master notes. She did a lot that was amazing.”
“One of the greatest moments in your life is when you realize that your child is actually good and professional. And Courtney is a great cook. So I’m thrilled and proud to be doing this book.”

The couple also shared the announcement in a sweet Instagram post that included various clips of them in the kitchen. The video shows Al grilling a steak while his daughter explains in detail what they are cooking together. In another clip, a passionate but earnest Al declares, tongs in hand, “Cooking is a science!”
Al’s wife even comes into the kitchen at one point to steal a plate of salad from the hard-working duo.

Before the video ends, Courtney is seen cooking a crispy frittata while Al yells, “Science!” The hungry couple then introduce the chef’s young daughter as the “most important taste tester” who gleefully bites into the breakfast dish.
“For the past two years, @alroker and I have combed through our favorite family meals, tasted (DAD) and developed (ME) 100 amazing, delicious recipes that will bring the whole family around the table,” Courtney wrote in the caption.
Al Roker’s recipes for life will be released by Legacy Lit on October 15th. It is now available for pre-order.
