Aldi Has a $47 ‘Inflation-Busting’ Thanksgiving Meal That Serves 10 People

Aldi has a discounted meal for customers to be thankful for.

The grocery chain announced on Oct. 16 that it will roll out the cheapest Thanksgiving meal basket in the next five years.

Aldi is putting together a $47 Turkey Day shopping list full of goods at “pre-inflation” prices. The review includes a 16-lb. Buttered turkey with spices, gravy, rolls, cornbread, macaroni and cheese and stuffing. Additionally, ingredients for Cranberry Sauce, Mashed Potatoes, Sweet Potato Casserole, Green Bean Casserole and Pumpkin Pie are included in the basket.

The “inflation-beating” meal offering, as billed in the press release, can feed 10 people, meaning the final cost is less than $4.70 per person. The shopping list comes without “sales, coupons, minimum purchase requirements, loyalty cards and other hoops needed to save at traditional grocery stores.”

Aldi’s Thanksgiving meal deal is designed to serve 10 people.

The Thanksgiving Package will be available from October 16th through November 27th (the Wednesday before the actual holiday).

Aldi can keep prices low by keeping smaller stores, which use a quarter cart system, and by keeping food in the original boxes and packaging in which it was delivered. Over the years they have had several initiatives to combat food price inflation.

In May, when inflation was at its peak, the retailer slashed prices on more than 250 products in an effort to help shoppers save $100 million over Labor Day.

Aldi’s target was nearly double the $60 million the national grocer reportedly saved shoppers in the summer of 2023 with similar price cuts.

Discounts ranged from 10 cents to more than $1.50, and items included pantry staples (like pinto beans and avocado oil) plus seafood and meats (like chicken and roast steak).
