Alex Galchenyuk Biography
Alex Galchenyuk was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to a Belarusian mother and former Soviet and Belarusian hockey player Alexander Galchenyuk. Anna is his elder sister. At the time of his birth, Galchenyuk’s father played with the Milwaukee Admirals of the International Hockey League (IHL). When Galchenyuk was four years old, his family relocated to Europe as a result of his father’s hockey career in Germany, Italy, and Russia.
When they finally settled, the younger Galchenyuk started his hockey career in Russia. When he was 15, he moved back to North America, first to Chicago, Illinois, and then to Sarnia, Ontario, where Alex Galchenyuk, Sr. is a coach. Galchenyuk is the chairman of both the Galchenyuk Agency and Galchenyuk Business Enterprises or GBE.

- Alex made the Canadiens’ roster for their January 19, 2013, 2-1 defeat to the Toronto Maple Leafs in the first game of the 2012–13 season. He was the Canadiens’ youngest player to play a complete season since 1984. On January 22, 2013, against Scott Clemmensen of the Florida Panthers, he scored his first NHL goal by deftly tipping in a shot from Brandon Prust.
