Alexis Ohanian is feeling especially grateful for her health this Thanksgiving.
On Thursday, Nov. 28, the Reddit co-founder, 41, shared on Instagram that he recently underwent preventative surgery after “following some suspicious nodules” on his thyroid over the past four years.
“The nodules were getting bigger and the latest biopsy revealed that they were very likely to become cancerous,” wrote Ohanian, who is married to tennis superstar Serena Williams. “My mom had breast cancer around that age (41) and then ended up dying of brain cancer about ten years later. I hate cancer.”
Ohanian assured his followers that the operation “went smoothly” – and that he received a “call this morning” that emphasized the importance of caution.

“My now removed half of the thyroid was indeed full of some lumpy nodules that very likely became cancerous,” he wrote.
Along with sharing a post-surgery photo of himself in a hospital bed, Ohanian posted two sweet photos of his daughters, Olympia, 6, and Adira, 1.
“Worst part I couldn’t lift for 2 weeks but the big guy is coming back next week and I took my girls to Disney World this week so life is wonderful,” he wrote. “To my colleagues – get a doctor’s appointment – especially if you’re all fathers. Happy Thanksgiving everyone.”
Ohanian and Williams celebrated their seventh wedding anniversary earlier this month, and both shared heartfelt posts on social media to mark the milestone.
