Alexis Ohanian takes a closer look at what it means to be successful as both a father and an entrepreneur.
The technology director and father of two, 41, asks fathers tough questions in his new podcast, Business dad.
Speaking with PEOPLE about the podcast launch, Ohanian — father of Adira, 9 months, and Olympia, 6½, who he shares with wife Serena Williams — opens up about how he’s been enjoying life as a father of two since welcoming daughter Adira last summer.
“Shout out to the mother of my kids. My wife, Serena, is a great mom,” he says of their experience as a family of four.
The father-of-two is excited to see his younger daughter start to get back on her feet, noting that it’s “fun because she’s getting more mobile.”
“She can have a lot more fun with her sister in terms of playing. You can already see their interaction. There’s a big age gap, and Olympia has a little bit of that motherly spirit. She says, ‘This is my baby,’ and it’s great to see them together.” shares Ohanian.
“They play and they sort of wrestle and all that. We’re very happy because Adira has a great personality and Olympia also, and she’s very excited to be a big sister. So it was special to see the two of them interact with each other in some way fun. Adira is getting more mobile and louder, and it will become even more fun.”
He jokes: “I guess at some point they’re going to argue about things, but for now let me live in bliss.”

Ohanian notes that the experience with baby no. 2 very different from the period of figuring it all out that came with new parents when Olympia was born.
“The best thing about all of this is that Adira’s birth went without a problem, so it was great. We were able to really absorb those first weeks, as every family deserves,” says the proud dad.
“What’s been interesting is that I don’t have as much anxiety. I feel like I’ve been a good rock for my wife during some of the more stressful early years of parenthood, especially as a first-time parent. You just don’t. You don’t want to mess up, do you? Then you wonder, ‘Is is it a fever or is it a fever?’ And now I’ve noticed, the second time around, even that more latent anxiety is gone because I have the confidence, ‘Hey, we’ve done this and Adira is going to be fun.'”
“We feel a lot more confident about it than the first time, so it makes for a different stress. It’s great. I’ll take the extra stress of having to keep an eye on another child – because it’s extra stress reduction from not having to be ready for every bump in the road is much better, little Adira was great.”

Presented by Realm, Ohanian’s new podcast features the entrepreneur asking some of the most influential people in business, sports, entertainment and other busy industries: “How do you balance being a dad with a successful career?”
The father of two says he appreciates how the conversation about men as active, participating fathers is changing and that talking about family life “makes us better in our careers.”
“Ask any working mom and she’s had to learn to deal with that balance and thrive within it for a very long time,” he says, nodding to previous outdated notions of parenting being primarily done by moms.
“I really feel like there’s an opportunity here to normalize a different kind of masculinity, honestly. It’s been seven years since I became a dad and I really didn’t think the moment could have been better. The bar was so incredibly low for men, especially respectable men, even if you were looking for your child, it was considered as such they work something. In reality, I think we should be talking about guys stepping up and working for their legacy,” he notes.

Dad is doing his part by spending lots of quality time with his daughters while simultaneously working on his podcast and other business ventures.
The family of four is looking forward to some travel this summer, with a stopover in Paris due to the Olympics on their calendar.
“We have a place in Paris. We generally love being there. And talking about human excellence! It’s going to be a lot of fun to be there in Paris for the Olympics.”
