All About Billionaire Mukesh Ambani's 3 Children: Akash, Isha and Anant

Billionaire Mukesh Ambani runs one of the biggest companies in the world, but his focus is still on his children: Akash, Isha and Anant.

The Reliance Industries chairman worked his way up in the family business after his father pulled him out of Stanford University, where he was studying for a master’s degree in business. Mukesh became rich through his company and held the title of the richest person in India, by Forbesmore than a decade.

In 1985, Mukesh married his wife Nita Ambani and the two soon had their first children, twins Akash and Isha, on 23 October 1991. Their youngest son, Anant, was born four years later on 10 April 1995.

In March 2024, Ananta’s pre-wedding bash attracted a star-studded guest list, including Mark Zuckerberg and Bill Gates, as well as their partners, and a performance by Rihanna. Although his wedding to fiancee Radhika Merchant was set for July 2024, the A-listers joined the happy couple for a three-day celebration at the luxurious Ambani estate in Gujarat, India.

Three months later, Anant kicked off his wedding with an even more star-studded guest list, including Kim and Khloé Kardashian, Nick Jonas, Priyanka Chopra and John Cena. Justin Bieber also performed for the guests.

From their roles in the family business to their weddings, here’s everything you need to know about Mukesh Ambani’s kids Akash, Isha and Anant.

Akash Ambani, 33

Mukesh and Nita’s first son, Akash, was born on 23 October 1991 along with his twin sister Isha in Mumbai. After attending an international school in Mumbai, Akash moved to the US to study at Brown University, where he graduated in 2014 with a degree in economics. In the same year, he joined his family’s company, Reliance.

Akash spoke at the IIT Bombay Techfest in December 2023 about how his father inspired him to choose a career.

“My father is one of my biggest inspirations and heroes,” he said. “He always wanted me to be an engineer — full disclosure that I’m not an engineer. I have been obsessed with technology since my father got his first phone in late 2003.”

“I always thought that inspiration creates life and I was happy to have inspiration in my house in terms of my grandfather, mother and father,” he added.

As of 2022, Akash is the Chairman of Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited. In his role, he “leads the creation of products and services that leverage new-age technologies such as 5G, Artificial Intelligence, Blockchain and the Internet of Things to drive generational change in commerce, education and healthcare across India,” according to the company’s website.

During his speech at a technology conference, Akash said that running a business is like being in the driver’s seat of a car all the time and he must not let anything get in his way. However, despite the stress, he said he enjoys his job.

“I’ve always said if you don’t really enjoy it, you’re not going to get there,” he said. “Don’t be afraid of failure, I think that’s something I’m lucky my parents were able to guide us through and say it’s okay if you fail, it’s important to recognize when it happens and take those steps to really change that pretty quickly and of course correctly.”

In March 2019, Akash married his wife Shloka Mehta in a grand ceremony, with Chris Martin performing. Among those present were Bollywood stars like Shah Rukh Khan and Alia Bhatt, per Vogue India.

Isha Ambani, 33

Akash’s twin sister—and Mukesh and Nita’s only daughter—Isha was also born on October 23, 1991. Like Akash, she too attended college in the US, graduating from Yale University in 2013 with a BA in Psychology and South Asian Studies. Then, in 2018, she obtained her MBA from Stanford University.

She also joined the family business and now serves as a board member of various Reliance subsidiaries, according to her biography on the company’s website. Although she said Vogue Australia that she once wanted to be a teacher, she added that she always knew she would contribute to Reliance in some way.

“My parents raised me with very traditional values ​​and it was instilled in me from an early age that the family should always come first,” she told that newspaper in July 2017. “I always believed that part of my personal responsibility towards my family is expanding and professionally.”

Isha added that as the only woman in her family involved in the company, she felt it was important to show other women the impact they can have on the workforce – and she owes her trust to her father.

“However, my best role model is my father. Because of him, I believe that fearlessness is a virtue,” she said. “He raised me to believe that I can achieve anything if I am brave, hardworking and confident. He taught me that there is no such thing as a glass ceiling.”

In December 2018, Isha married her billionaire husband Ajay Piramal’s son, Anand Piramal. During the pre-wedding festivities, Beyoncé performed for star-studded guests, including Nick and Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Hillary Clinton. Bloomberg announced that Mukesh had spent over $100 million on Isha’s wedding.

Four years later, Isha gave birth to twins Krishna and Aadia on 19 November 2022.

Anant Ambani, 29

The youngest Ambani was born on April 10, 1995. Like his older brother, Anant attended Brown University. He now serves as a director on various boards within Reliance, but mainly Reliance Industries Limited. He is passionate about focusing on green energy and the betterment of the public, he told za India today in March 2024.

Growing up, Anant struggled with asthma that forced him to take steroids that led to weight gain, his mother said Times of India 2017 During one of his speeches at his pre-wedding celebrations in March 2024, he thanked his parents for their support as his life has never been “full of roses” due to health issues.

“I have faced many health crises since childhood, but my father and mother never let me feel it,” he said, according to Times of India. “My father and mother were always by my side and gave me the feeling to think [I can do it]I will do it.”

He continued: “My father and mother mean so much to me and I will be forever grateful.”

Anant and his fiancee Radhika Merchant tied the knot in July 2024, but they started celebrating early with a big party.

The celebration included a performance by Rihanna and appearances by some of the world’s richest business people, including Gates and Zuckerberg who posed for a photo together. Other attendees also included Ivanka Trump and Clinton, as well as some members of Bhutan’s royal family.

The celebration lasted three days and included a 9-page dress code for guests and a lavish dinner that served 51,000 people, including residents of the neighboring village.

In July, the festivities continued with an appearance from the Kardashians ahead of the week-long celebration. The lavish affair culminated in a ceremony on July 12 where Anant and Merchant tied the knot.

Per The Guardianthe wedding cost a whopping $600 million, which is just the final straw for Mukesh, whose net worth is roughly $123 billion, according to Forbes.
