On Tuesday night’s (October 22) episode, car mechanic Andy became the fifth contestant to be given the axe.
During the confectioner’s week, the remaining bakers were given the task of making 12 frangipane cakes in a recognizable bakery.
Meanwhile, Paul Hollywood asked the contestants to make a Greek pie in a technical challenge.
Unfortunately for Andy, various accidents along the way led to his elimination.
Fans were devastated by the outcome, as one wrote on Xu, formerly of Twitter: “absolutely FUMIN justice for andy #GBBO.”
While another added: “@BritishBakeOff LOVE Andy. Prue and Paul you are dead to me. #GBBO.”
A third person said they were “lost” and remarked: “Bake Off needs Andy.”
However, not only the viewers were upset by the last departure.
Speaking during the episode, Dame Prue Leith said: “It’s so sad to see Andy go. I adore the guy but he just hasn’t had a good week.”
Andy also commented on his departure after hearing he would be leaving the tent.

He said: “(It’s) just sad, you know, I had such a fantastic time, I laughed so hard. But that’s standard, c’est la vie.”
After leaving, Andy revealed that he wanted to make a career in baking and said he would “be grateful for any opportunity”.
He added: “I’d like to think I could do something in the baking world and make it my career.
“I will probably start baking on social media and introduce the world to my cakes and flavors.
“Doing demos or even something within media or television, I would be blessed and grateful for any opportunity.
“I hope I can bring some joy to people and encourage everyone, even mechanics, to bake.”
Although upset about leaving, Andy also admitted he “knew it was right”.
He continued: “I was so sad to leave, I knew it was the right thing to do and I prepared myself for the decision.
