Destin Christopher Tucker is following in the footsteps of his famous father.

The 26-year-old son of actor Chris Tucker and casting director Azja Pryor may only have a handful of credits, but Hollywood stardom isn’t that far off if he’s anything like his father.

Over these past 4 years I have learned valuable life lessons about navigating this world as a black man,” the graduate wrote in a now-deleted Instagram post. “Certainly there were moments of doubt, anger and confusion, but thank God, family and friends. I persevered!”

Mom Pryor was equally delighted, who dedicated the post on Instagram to her “son” Destin. “The boy I left in his dorm room 4 years ago is now a man,” she wrote on Instagram. “Son, you have always been destined for greatness and this is just the beginning. My heart is so full as we close a chapter and watch you unleash all your greatness.”

Destin’s college choice also received enthusiastic approval from Dad. “I think it was a great decision; it’s like Morehouse chose us,” Tucker explained in 2017. “I’m from Atlanta and it’s just great for [Destin] be down here and I’m here. Everything just came together.”

He is a rising film director

In 2022, Destin finished shooting his short thriller, Spectrophobiawhich he wrote, produced and directed. “This film is a thriller about a condition that many of us may not be aware of,” he wrote of the project in a since-deleted Instagram post.

Over the years, Destin and his father have attended several sporting events, including the 2019 F1 Monaco Grand Prix and the 2020 and 2023 NBA All-Star Game.

During NBA All-Star Weekend 2023, Tucker’s Air actor Ben Affleck and his son Samuel joined the father-son duo. “He’s a spectacular young man,” Affleck later told PEOPLE of Destin, adding, “What a great testament to Chris and what a father he is.”

Tucker also told PEOPLE what it was like watching Destin play sports when he was younger. “I was at football games when my son was younger and other parents would say, ‘Hey, let him go.’ I would say, ‘Focus on your own children.’ But I had to stop it now. My son is older now, he’s 24 years old, and you’re just rooting for him.”
