All About Coco Jones’ Parents, Mike and Javonda Jones

Coco Jones has had the support of her parents since day one.

The actress and singer started her career in the entertainment industry like many young stars – in Disney. She starred in a Disney movie Let it shine 2012 and developed as a performer from there. She is now the star of the Peacock The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air spin-off, Bel-Air, and R&B singer touring the country and even getting praise from Janet Jackson.

Her father, Mike Jones, played professional football in the National Football League. And while her mother, Javonda Jones, may not be a household name, Coco credits her mother for giving her the inspiration, courage and support to tackle the entertainment industry. Javonda is a prominent singer in her own right, works as a session vocalist, and with her many years of experience in business management, she has taken on a key role in helping her daughter become a star.

Mike and Javonda have four children

Coco may be the most famous member of the Jones family, but she is not Mike and Javonda’s only child. The couple – who have since divorced – share four children. Their two sons, Steven and Mikey Jr, followed in their athletic father’s footsteps with an interest in football. Mike Jr. played college football and is currently signed with the Atlanta Falcons. Steven also played college football.

And Aja Jones is an athlete. She plays volleyball and is currently on the roster at Florida A&M University.

Mike is a former NFL player

It is no surprise that Coco’s brother and sister achieved such success in athletics. Their father, Mike, had a successful career. He played 13 seasons in the National Football League as a linebacker, and after retirement began coaching.

Coco has been vocal about how the household she grew up in allowed her to thrive and use her artistic talents. Not surprisingly, one of her earliest appearances was at a football game in St. Louis Rams, the team her father played for in 1998, where she sang the national anthem. She recently shared the clip on x. Growing up with a professional soccer player father and a singer mother, both parents nurtured her passions.

Mike and Coco have been close all her life, and she told the world as much in a Father’s Day 2020 tribute on Facebook. She wrote: “Since day one, and every day since, you’ve always been by my side. You’ve always believed in me.. and loved me! Thank you, Dad. Happy Father’s Day to the greatest Dad ever!”

Mike is also proud of Coco. He told ESPN in 2012: “She’s always been my baby. The one time she sang the national anthem at a football game, I was sweating and more nervous than when I was at the Super Bowl. We have a very close family and we call her our singer. .”

Javonda is one of Coco’s biggest inspirations

In 2023, Coco shared with PopSugar how important her mother Javonda was in her life. “My mom, Javonda Jones — aka the Queen of Country! — was instrumental in my journey into entertainment,” Coco said of the house. “She is the definition of a selfless person. She sacrificed her free time for her children, to help them achieve whatever their hearts desired. She figured it out when we didn’t know what to do to get me where I wanted to be.”

Coco’s path in the entertainment industry was guided by her mother. Starting with her days at Disney, Javonda worked as her manager. During the performance at R&B money podcast, Coco shared that Javonda protected her from signing a contract that would have her working with Disney for years.

Her mother’s business acumen in the entertainment industry allowed Coco freedom and success, she said. Now, Javonda continues to work with Coco as the business manager of Real U Incorporated, now known as the Coco Jones Company.

Since childhood, Coco was dedicated to spending time with her family

In an interview with Commercial Appeal, at just 15 years old, Coco was enthusiastic about spending time with her family whenever she had time. “Whenever I have a break, I’ll go home and rest with my family, even if it’s just one night. That’s how much we love being together,” she said.
